MAJORgoonMADLOU Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 I will be getting new glasses soon. Currently I use contacts when using my HP Reverb G2, Ver. 2 because I get a wider FOV. I am considering getting VR prescription lenses since I only use the contacts for VR. Any recommendations for the best places to get VR prescription lenses? Thanks!
shirazjohn Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 I use VR optician for my g2 and have been very happy with them. https://vroptician.com/ 1

Don't know if it's only me, but I did experience a greater sweetspot after I attached the inserts! Very much needed ?
TG-55Panthercules Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 (edited) Same here. I used a DIY setup that I found on the web for my first VR HMD (a Rift CV1), where I used glasses lenses from Zenni and an insert/holder I had 3-D printed from a pattern downloaded from the web - total came to only $25 including shipping, and it worked great at the time. However, when I packed up my Rift to give away after I bought my Reverb G2 last year, I found that the 3-D printed insert/holder had just broken on its own after sitting unused for a couple of years, so I decided not to try that approach again this time (and my prescription had changed in the meantime anyway) and I just ordered the ones for my G2 from VR Opticians. A bit pricier than my previous DIY setup, but they came reasonably quickly and have been working great so far. Edited May 20, 2023 by TG-55Panthercules
Drano Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Really happy with the set I got from Reloptix. Two piece setup that uses magnets to attach the lenses to a snap on base. Makes it real easy to swap them out if you're sharing the headset. Give them a look. https://reloptix.com/ 1
[CPT]Crunch Posted May 21, 2023 Posted May 21, 2023 Yup, happy reloptix user here also, easy to clean and maintain, magnetic snaps, and they can do a reader ratio formula integration, outstanding for reading close in instruments. If your USA based these guys will work with you to get them perfected. What ever you do avoid the chinese made VR Rock garbage, pure trash. 1

Just repeat my post from a different thread regarding the same topic: I can definitely recommend VR Optician too Generally, for people required to wear glasses under the goggles VR prescription lenses are a real gamechanger - comfort wise (glasses always pinch here and there and are constantly smeared) as well as from the advantageous optical effect of having a better FOV and sweet spot compared to having glasses on. Even if you remove the face gasket of the G2 in order to gain a higher FOV it still fit with the prescription lenses - however, since your eyes and therefore your eyelashes gets closer to the lenses in this case you need to clean them more often, but so what...
Horna Posted May 23, 2023 Posted May 23, 2023 got my lenses from VR optician last week, couldn't be happier. No more contact lenses drying and better sweet spot too.
