I am afraid that by the time Jason's new endevour and/or the team(s) here(???) will get to any PTO release(s) ED with DCS will already be there (given what we think we know about what is coming already) !?

I -personally- don't understand : starting completely from scratch ... how long may that take, will there be much, if any PV(-VR) community around by the time of realease !???

I wouldn't worry about that. Yes, DCS will have some PTO content first, simply because M3's Corsair, carrier, ground assets and ED's Marianas are almost ready. We might get AI Zero soon afterwards. Then it's two years at least till the Hellcat comes but after that I can bet already that either the whole thing will stop right there, or will progress at snail pace just like the WWII Assets Pack. And I say it with confidence as primarily DCS player since 2014.

The reason is simple - their business will always rely on modern aircraft first and foremost. That applies both to ED and 3rd parties, judging from the flood of new project announcements we saw last year. For the same reason they wouldn't be good partners to cooperate with and be dependent from.

As long as Jason manages to keep the money and independent project going, he will catch up with and pass ED eventually, simply because of concentrating on PTO and not using it as an afterthought to a secondary business activity.

Yes there is much truth in that.

But just how long may that be ???

The past is the past, let's leave it where it is, and this is in the past. Let's look a the bright future. The fact that a new sim WWII air combat theater, is entering development  stage, means that our sim genre after all is not dead but is flourishing. As usual competition is an excellent thing. I whish the best to all those that want to improve the simmers flying experience.

BoX wasn't headed on Pacific because previous producer used FM engeneering resources for attempt of making complex fuel systems instead of attempt of developing carrier deck operations physics. Team wanted for Pacific science 2018 - team wanted to start it right after Battle of Kuban release.

Previous producer have publically described his ideas about what he wanted to do after Normandy in Great Battles - there are only DLCs about European Air War and polishing something - no any attitude for new horizonts.

Can you tell us what module would you have made next for Great Battles if you were still Executive Producer?

First, that's false. Second, don't force me explain my decisions in full Daniel or more about 1CGS. You won't like it. My decisions, along with you and the team's hard work kept your bills paid and food on the table for your family when no one believed in us. I took a lot of ?over the years on your behalf. Don't be disrespectful towards me. Be proud of what we accomplished together for the genre and go do what you do best and everyone wins. We can choose to have a friendly competition in the marketplace moving forward Daniel or we can have a war. Your choice.

So…can’t wait to fly the Zero, plus my horrendous record of barely landing on a proper runway should make carrier landings interesting!

I have a bad feeling that this one is going to see the padlock. Anyways you heard the news about the planned PTO game. Don´t look back, look into the future. It looks bright for us flightsim fans. More competition means the consumer wins.

OK,

As IckyATLAS said, The past is the past, let's leave it where it is, and this is in the past. Let's look a the bright future.

Both teams will be bringing something to the table that people have been waiting for.
Since pretty much everyone posting here is also posting on the CP forum, I'll ask everyone to behave civilly on both sites.
Or, I can lock and delete this whole thing.

Same is across my whole sqdn, as well ex-sqdn....i guess flight simmers just buy everything there is when it comes to cfs.

I always knew that someday my nasty habit of practicing carrier operations by using taxiways for take off and landing will pay off. ? Looking forward to it.

Let it be on your side.

I still have enough respect to community, you, and the team to not start anything like this in public.

Team still gretefull to you for your positive solutions in game design and marketing - there were a lot of them too.

So best wishes in you new project.

PS

By the way - what happened to Microprose? Or this announced PTO project is handled by them?

Posting in this historical thread for posterity.

While I wouldn't say that a war is necessary and that the word gets thrown around far too easily (real ones still exist in this world), competition on the flightsim market is always good for the consumer.

After this announcement and MicroProse working on B-17, all we need is for Mad Otter to reboot Red Baron.

Honestly, there are currently two combat flight sim developers. Having a third would create options for training more people in building flight simulators, create more products and approaches, and generally help promote the genre in general.

It really isn't my business, but I still thought I had a useful observation to add:

- Nobody is perfect. We are all human with human foibles.

- No decision is perfect (all decisions have costs and benefits).

- The decision to create one thing always leaves other things uncreated.

So, as a community member, I have the utmost respect for these talented and dedicated individuals, who strive to create in difficult circumstances, and create works of art which go beyond optimising for market forces, but strive to recreate the experience of flight (and to keep history alive). I think all of the team members and project leaders deserve our respect and appreciation.

We are in a genre with few developers but demand for an enormous breadth of experiences, more devs in the business is good. That said, without even a single video we have no idea what level of quality we're going to get here, passing any judgement, positive or negative, is silly to me. I hope it's good, but we have no way of knowing yet

Thank you. Yep, making big projects - is a big headache )) under this pressure only severals can stay 100% nice. And, to be fair - I dunno such people ))))

We know that not announcing next project making bad PR in community. But announce something huge what is on very early stage of development and can be changed a lot or postponed somehow - will make even more hit to community mood.

So we keep your negativity about our silence and continue to move to a point where everything will be clear about next project and we will feel free to announce it and start telling you about the details. We very afraid to repeat couple of bad stories happened before when we have announced something and it wasn't able to be completed or was postponed a lot. Some other projects (aviasims too) doing this without any scare, but we think it's bad for relations with community.

What can be said at the moment?

We have estabilished:

- New priorities in expanding of the team

- New graphics technology

- New 3D models development workflow

- New UI technology

- New usability design

- New gameworld technologies which will make brand new flight sim gaming experience

- New map

- New plane set

But we're still in evaluating of new primary game mode design. We're still in evaluating of what we exactly will improve in aiplanes physics and systems. We're still in evaluating of many other thing.

When at least most of these will be clear for us, when we will adopt the schedule for these plans and will know the milestones - than we will make the announce.

I can just repeat again what I've said before - team is very exited and motivated about new project. We haven't had such opportunity to make the new milestone in the genre starting from 2012. We now doing everything is possible to not miss this opportunity.

Who would've guessed all it would take for Han to finally find the "post" button in all these months was a new sim getting announced ??  Someone should've just made a website and posted a blurry pic of an airplane months ago?....

Yep, that possible. I'm not nice person and like to have fair talk to anyone I talk with ))

I don't like to "roleplaying celestial" in my touch with community. And I trying to avoid tells about what I have done - I'm telling about what team have done. Such approach not much appericated sometimes ))

I can't wait to purchase and fly the whatever Jason has to offer! And of course, Il-2 which I already love and had so much fun in these years.❤️

These announcements of more sims is just really good news for me, as we didn't have anything like that some years ago, remember?

I already own most flying sims on the market and I will add both options to my collection as many of our community members.

I wanna thank both Jason, Han and the rest of the team for the work that has already been done and the hours, hours of fun that will probably come next! I wouldn't be here in this hobby if it weren't for you, guys!

You guys rock!

Kind regards,

Developers, keep peace here…!❤️

Jasons new project I will buy for sure, except it‘s a total failure but who really expect that??

Carriers and Pacific theatre, WOW!!

Never resist a beautiful woman wear a Bikini ?

The other girl, her name „Flying Circus“ is older but I can’t resist her charming experience ? Purchase for sure!!

Next project?
Let‘s see what it is…

All I need is a bigger SSD  hard drive ?

Fantastic news, although I take it with some caution, because these are really difficult projects with a lot of obstacles. Anyway, If the products are good (both Combat Pilot and the new 1CGS project) I'm sure most of us will buy both, so not really competition from my point of view.

Between Hans teases and the Combat pilot stuff.

I'm over hyped. Need a nap hahaha

Good year to be a simmer

Can you imagine what it would be like if IL-2 was also planning the PTO as well. All these years without then to have two quality combat flight sims offering it would be incredible.
