Is there any way to force Startup.cfg to keep bloom = 0?

Everytime I turn the bloom off ( =0 ) and save the change in the startup.cfg settings, it only stays set that way for 1 time that I run the game and resets to default ON ( =1 ) the next time I run the game.

Is there any way to permanently force the startup.cfg to keep my saved setting?

Not sure, but have you tried making your startup.cfg file "read only"?  Might work, but am away from my IL-2 GB PC so can't test it.

I'll try it.   Do you know if this disables the ability to alter graphics settings using the in-game check box list?

 

 

 

Edit:  NVM.  The file is already read only by default.

You'll have to turn off HDR in the in-game graphics settings.  It's automatically turning on Bloom.  I've tried to turn it off in-game and set HDR = 1 and Bloom = 0 in the startup.cfg, but after I start the game and come back to check it, the Bloom is always set back to 1.  Setting the startup.cfg to Read Only should stop it from changing but you would have to deactivate that each time you want to change a graphics setting in game.

Seems like the .cfg is set to read only by default, you need to change that to make your new sttings stick over time! Perhaps making it read only again after changing setting there but always untick it before making changes!

Shouldn't be read only by default as that would have prevented any changes from the Launcher or the in-game Settings.

That's wrong, mate. If it was the case, then no changes via GUI would be possible -ever.

 

The problem with boom is related to HDR. As long as this option is checked, bloom is automatically activated too after game relaunch.

 

So, to avoid this, make your changes in the game via GUI, but do not relaunch the game when asked. Just confirm the changes with OK, then quit the game, set the startup.cfg file to read-only. Restart the game and you'll be fine.

 

Just remember to change the file property, if you intend to modify your settings.

Except....  The one and only time that I checked the Properties of this file, it was default set to Read Only.   I could make the GUI changes with no problem. 

I know that this is the case because I had a technical problem with my controllers after a power surge shutdown of my pc.  The only way that I could get the game to read my X-52pro was to reinstall the game and the controller drivers so, I was working with default files.

 

Even though my monitor is HDR compatible, I've decided that HDR = off was almost the same as with it on so, I guess, problem solved.
