Thank you many good info, just pity that IAR will be in Winter, not earlier.

The IAR80/81 was announced in preorder at the end of 2021 and it is announced available for the end of 2023?
I find this unacceptable and there will be no preoder for me for anything from now on.

The delay with the IAR has been explained several times, and the policy on pre-orders has been changed to prevent similar things from happening.

I mean, I'm kind-of disappointed people voted for the MC.202 instead of the IAR-80 back in that poll in... 2013 was it? But giving this 3rd party plenty of time to polish it, complete research and produce more variants means we'll get 'more IAR' ...so I can't really begrudge it taking a little bit longer.

I like it, I like it a lot!

The air race tournament sounds awesome and a great way of engaging the community, but will there maybe be a sale between now and the contest start date for those who do not own Battle of Stalingrad and would like to pick it up at a reduced price? Thanks.

Nice!

The 2023 roadmap illustration looks like a christmas calendar, that's cool man?

I am weirdly excited about this:

  1. Hidden GUI state will no longer persist across game restarts;

Soooo, is that sort of 'it' for the BoX series short of four or five already-announced collector aircraft?

No more modules to announce, or engine updates to look forward to? ?

Good question.

We all knew and saw the writing on the wall that they would string out the  GB series for as long as they could right?

And let's face it, they have to keep generating income so it's a logical route to go down... I'd certainly expect perhaps a few more 'collector' aircraft to appear, or even a couple of needed maps (Murmansk, Channel map anyone?)...

If they can't keep pulling in income the new project won't appear will it.

Thanks for putting together the visual roadmap! It always helps

I'd love to see the air race courses put into the quick mission builder at some point so we can always play them and with any plane. I am pumped for the racing.

I have zero interest in air races.  I want just WWII combat action. I am sure there are plenty that do though, just not for me.

I guess this means no new GBs installment until 2025 at the earliest.

I think it could be fun but I'm not all that thrilled with the two aircraft chosen all the same.

Yes, get serious friend. 2023/24 looks good for FC and WW1 enthusiasts. As it should be. I congratulate the devs for focusing on what really matters. :coffee:

That's a giant relief.  Was worried they would leave it persisting across game restarts.  (What is it? )

Also excited to hear about the Handley Page O/100. I thought we had the O/400 model ?

Either way, I'm excited. Next year will probably be a real Bloody April 1917 with Nieuports, Harry Tates, and Fees against Albatrosen and Halberstadts. Don't get me wrong, Operation Michael has been fun to see the early 1918 plane-set, but I've been missing the older planes. If we're lucky, we'll get the D.III, DH-2, and Strutters out in time for the event, too. The Great War is really shaping up!

I believe it is whether or not you set the in game HUD to hidden or not. Sounds like it would stay at what you last toggles it to rather than start in the state you set in the main settings.

I know that if I overwrite a mission it sometimes keeps the old one, sometimes mashes together details of the old and new, etc.  Been that w ay since ROF.  It's not a big thing and most people wouldn't notice or care, but this has annoyed me for over a decade.  That assumes that it is what I think it is ... :)

More plane is always good, but any news about fixing the bug that affects BON airfileds that makes some careers unusable ?

This bug has been reported 9 month ago and apart from the promise that it will be fixed, I still see nothing.

main topic:  https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/80181-taxi-to-runway-problem-with-bon/

+ another report in the AI section

Quote

Brief description: ai on wingmen not working properly on takeoff
Detailed description, conditions:
I am flying BON, Spitfire IX in career mode. I have attempted 4 different careers and bailed on each because instead of getting a clearance to take off at the beginning of the mission, I get clearance to taxi instead. This causes the flight leader to taxi off the runway, circle around behind the flight, then crash into the last plane of the flight. The leadership of the flight then passes to the next plane, which commences to do the same thing. When I fly as leader, I get the taxi clearance instead of the takeoff order. If I just take off anyway, I will get the takeoff order 3/4 way through my takeoff run . Some of the wingmen will follow me but one will usually do that same taxi maneuver of taxiing off the runway, circling behind the flight, and then crash into another plane waiting to take off. If there is no plane in its way, it will then get take off clearance. This process requires me to circle the airfield until the flight is together, which causes me to run out of gas on the return journey and ditch. I dont think this is how she should be working. My Stalingrad career nor my Kuban one has done this, this bug seems to effect the Normandy career.

Is this correction still in the pipe or should I move on  ?

So no new expansion?

Any more insight on what is the main team working on? Engine update? Totally new product?

Looking forward to everything on the roadmap, especially the FC stuff. Will be cool to finally be able to take a career all the way from early '17 through the end of the war, if I can survive that long. The Nieuport 17 has always been a favorite. Should be cool to be flying one in VR in a couple months.

Question: ever since the update, my gun convergence keeps resetting itself to 600 meters every time I start a new mission. It used to stay on whatever I set it on last. I don't see anything about this in the notes. Is this intentional? Maybe something to do with the change to the hidden GUI state behavior?

Posted

Hmm.. so lots of WW1-stuff, a Bomber and some Fighter we allready have, but with with bubbletop?
Since i bough FC, i barely touched it, and online-games mainly focus on late-WW2.
For me, this Roadmap offers nothing of intrest, even tho´ i like the idea of a Glider.
Looking forward to more Effect & Engine-changes, like smoke-plumes, particles or AudioFX-enhancements.

New planes are always nice, but what will keep players interested at this point is engine upgrades. If you won't go into detail about what you're working on, why not at least give us a roadmap of the general areas you're working on. Are you planning more in depth damage modeling? Engine modeling? New ammo types? Multithreading? What's the plan?

I believe both.  The new engine in a totally new product iirc is what they said earlier.

This has Albert’s fingerprints all over it.

Gimmicks like this have a very short shelf life.

MSFS’s much heralded Reno Air racing is as dead as the Dodo, despite millions of users.

The FC stuff is much welcome for it’s limited audience but is mostly produced by third party.

It seems obvious that the present GB series is entering a care and maintenance period whilst the bulk of the effort goes into the as yet unannounced new game.

I wonder if they’ve managed to track down many ninety year old Mig pilots. Can’t be too many of these old boys left now…..

I noticed that! I'm not that interested in the O/100 myself, but it would bridge the gap between the Caudron G.4, Short Bomber, and the O/400 in RNAS bomber squadrons... still, I think it'd be fine to transition directly from the Caudron to the O/400 - a good compromise?

Well they were pretty clear that the engine will be an iteration upon their own proprietary engine.

I do hope that the fact that they are improving the physics (etc.) in the current engine (for things like gliders) might indicate a degree of modularity. Originally the Flying Circus aircraft retained the Rise of Flight flight model core, but updated everything else. Hopefully something similar will exist so that we can use the existing planes alongside the new ones should we choose to do so.

Has there been any word on improved AI for Flying Circus Singleplayer?

Right now they seem to have some issues figuring out how to attack each other, usually resulting in enemy planes just following your friendlies and neither firing at each other or maneuvering.

Been playing a fair amount of FC lately and I have not seen that.  At any rate, the response is always the same: post a mission that recreates the problem in the complaints section.

Old MiG pilots never die... they just go on vacation, be sure! (my post has been altered, I didn't say this exactly... you can't even have a laugh anymore on this forum)
