I hope I'm in the right place for this question.  I'm new to the forum and making a return to IL2 since the Hyperlobby/ 1946 days. And not the latter days either. I set up my old TrackIR with the latest driver and there appears to be some strange issues going on.  It works fine in the Scripted Mission mode, but if I go into Multiplayer, it just goes haywire. It may not be the TrackIR, I don't know.  Even when I use my mouse it's darting all over the place.  In Quick Mission it's a little different, but its still wacked out.  My view is stuck looking backwards and if I manage to get turned around it changes view quickly.  Don't know if its a driver issue or compatibility issue that can be rectified in Windows.  I'm not much of a techie, so I would be grateful for any possible solutions.

Thank you

Is the tracking motion ok in it's own software ?

In-game, F10 saves your current view as default - so if looking back, turn around and hit F10.

Check your controls for conflicts, in 'Pilot Head Control'. - is something else causing movement ?

Turn up brightness in the software, and make sure there aren't any external light sources triggering movement.

Yes it works fine in the TrackIR software/setup. And it works fine in Scripted Mission. Exit it out if Scripted and into Multiplayer or Quick, and all heck breaks loose. Even with no lights on around me. I'll check these other factors but it seems if there was an issue like you mentioned it would be across the board

I've no idea why it would work ok in one game format and not another.

Hopefully someone else might be able to help..

Good luck !

I had a similar problem. Turn up "light filter threshold" fixed it for me.

Good luck.

Yeah I've messed with that to no avail. I guess maybe uninstalling the driver and try going back to a previous version? It's just strange how it works flawlessly in one mode.

It's been a while since I've used TIR being in VR now a few years. When I had problems with TIR it was usually related to something in the room interfering with the tracking. Bring up the camera view tab in the software and make sure the only thing the camera is seeing is the three dots. The camera will see anything else that emits IR light. Could be anything. Another lamp, sunlight (problem seem to happen at certain times of the day? That could be it.), mirrors reflecting it. Doesn't matter--there can only be the three dots in the specific pattern the software is looking for. Do you wear glasses? I had a problem with mine reflecting the IR light coming from the camera back at it in passive mode. That mode uses the reflectors you wear on a cap. Watching in camera view it would show another dot appearing whenever I'd turn my head. It was coming from the glasses! I had to switch to active mode which looks for the IR clip lights you'd attach to your headset. I built my own but there are several aftermarket clips. Even so, I had to dig into the software to turn off the IR lights in the camera completely.

I usually play at night so no lights or one small light, but I will try it without my reading glasses. At one point I did see one red light but now  all 3 are green and everything looks great in the settings program as far as head tracking. I have the profile on default...I'm not sure if I should be doing anything with that. Thanks for the response. I don't get notifications when someone responds so it took me a few days to see it.

Light off, no glasses and now pilot's view in all modes of IL2 is looking backwards over right shoulder. I can move my head around, but it goes back to looking over right shoulder when facing monitor straight on.

there is a center view function somewhere, but i have a trackhat sensor v2 now so it's been a while i used TrackIR (5).

I think it was the same as default in IL2, numpad 5. Black Hell Hound is the expert here IMO:

How about the TIR mode? There are two of those, I forget what they're called exactly but they're looking for different patterns of the three dots. Something tells me it was active and passive. One is for the ball cap clip. That one is a kind of pyramid shaped. The other is for the active LED clip you put on a headset. That one has a more vertical pattern. Could be you're running TIR in the wrong mode? They're not interchangeable.

Oh and you said you were seeing one red light in the camera? Did it ever change to green when moving your head around? Even briefly it'll skew your view around.

And yes, map a center button so it knows where to start.

No red dots...all 3 green, lining up as instructed. Like I said everything is perfect in the software/settings app in terms of the tracking. I dk if my actual settings have something off, but this is the first time I've had any issue with my TrackIR system. Then again it's the first time I've used it with Windows 11. I dk if it's a W11 issue or a communication problem between the game and the TrackIR driver or what. And I use the default f12 to center.

I've been in touch with TrackIR support and they asked a few questions. It turns out, it's something in the game itself. It never dawned on me it was anything other than Track IR because it is a tracking or head movement issue...I thought. But I turned off TrackIR and went into the game without it and same thing. I did move around with my mouse and when I moved it so I'm looking out of the front of the cockpit, my head is not centered. When I hit number pad 5....whoooop...right back to the over the right shoulder looking backwards. I'm stuck. Frustrating cuz I was excited to get back into IL2, after years away, with a new machine and monitor.

Edit: I thought maybe when I fooled around with customizing keybindings I messed something up, but I reset to factory default and it didn't fix the issue

It could be that. Would need a Win11 TIR user to chime in. I know the software hasn't been updated in quite a while. I had used it with Win10 last.

Now when you say three green dots. Just to be clear--you're moving your head around while you're looking at them, right? If any of them change green to red while doing that then you have a reflection. You won't see that sitting still. IF so, you need to fix that.

HAH...we just hit reply at the same time...check my last reply. Doesn't appear to be a TrackIR issue after all

Game head position set? Center command mapped? I notice there isn't a defaultVR head position key command, you have to do that I guess. It's in camera controls. Map 5 to that if it isn't and see what happens.

You most likely did something to your snapviews. Go into the snapviews folder (/data/lusascripts directory), delete the file(s) for the plane(s) you are having an issue with, and re-launch the game.
