jollyjack Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 I had Track IR5, and just got Trackhat Sensor v2 sent. Am i lucky, eh? Now there's no manual. less lucky LoL. Installation of it, downloaded Trackhat opentrack V3. Should be all you need. But must i uninstall Track IR 5 drivers first? Any further tips welcome ..
BOO Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 from what i recall the dev of opentrack stated he would not support TIR should be apples and oranges
jollyjack Posted April 29, 2023 Author Posted April 29, 2023 (edited) Guess so, but i had trackIR 5 working fine. Now with TrackHat sensor v2 i cannot get it to work, camera on in windows, leds glow, OpenTrack software 3.1 works, recognizes the hardware, but cannot get it going so far. ADDED 1: Got it working, updated windows, restarted after removing unused USB drivers with USBdeview, plugged the hardware into a higher rated USB port at the MB backplate, and check your windows privacy settings for camere acces. ... Bingo! ADDED 2: Also i found that stray light towards the sensor should be reduced a lot .. Edited May 16, 2023 by jollyjack

I was also a user of Track IR5, but now I really like that TrackHat that is without cables and the headphone mounted light emitter is really so light and lean. You can program the Center Reset to be the Numpad Key 5 so that you can reset and recenter your IL2 view of the head position and TrackHat at the same time. However I find it pity that Windows abandoned FaceTrack which in the end is the best solution before a full VR system (which is a different head mounted solution). Today you could have a camera 3D Sensor that can get a 3D view of the face and so be able to discriminate very precise motions of the head. I suppose the market is too small for such a system (probably in the 200 US$ range) to develop something specific for simmers.
jollyjack Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 (edited) I have center reset also routed to a button on my Warthog throttle. Edited May 16, 2023 by jollyjack 1
jollyjack Posted December 2, 2023 Author Posted December 2, 2023 (edited) TrachHat sensor v2: And now problems again, camera does not work from within IL2 5.108 only. Set the IL2.exe file correctly, restarted etc and old settings right in Opentrack 3.2, freetrack as advised. Trackhat works fine in the trackhat display, Rise of Flight, Cliffs, and in DCS. NOT in IL2. am i doing something wrong? BTW in startup.cfg i tried both "old_trackir = 1 and =0" as advised a while ago by BlackHellHound. I think the Trackhat Sensor v2 drivers are properly recognized, but not in IL2. Edited December 3, 2023 by jollyjack
Reggie_Mental Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Simply can't get it to launch at all. Nothing happens. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled V3.2. I have checked the camera, which is being recognised in devices as a Trackhat Sensor. I have tried using it both front USB and rear USB. Nothing. Nada. Where do I start?
jollyjack Posted May 1, 2024 Author Posted May 1, 2024 (edited) Hi Reggie ... just saw this. You have to manually copy the files NPClient.dll to .... windows/system32\drivers, and NPClient64.dll to .....windows\SysWOW from your installation folder .....\TrackHat opentrack v3\modules. (I figured this out myself as the support could not figure this out. I mailed them about it, but their installer is the same; still sucks.) Also tune the filter sliders against on the options page shaky-ness like this maybe, first one to about 1.5 to 2, second one to 0.003 to 0.05, for both it seems. Edited May 2, 2024 by jollyjack
