HunDread Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Does anyone have any idea why I am capped at 60 FPS with a reverb g2? I installed a new GTX 4080 today and I am capped. The card works fine with other titles. WMR is set to 90 Hz. I use opencomposite, not SteamVR. With the current settings I was able to do 90 FPS on a 1080 TI so it's not performance related. There was an update downloading when I started IL-2. Can that be the reason?
Guest Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 And make sure the game on the monitor is full-screen, windowed will make it cap at 60fps.
Varibraun Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 I had that issue awhile back for my G2 and for some reason setting WMR to 60, rebooting and then setting it back 90 worked for me to get 90 again. Here is the previous thread if that helps:
HunDread Posted April 27, 2023 Author Posted April 27, 2023 Thanks everyone for the tips ! This one worked. On my old GPU my monitor was connected with DVI and it apparently full screen or not does not matter in that connection. Now my monitor is connected with DisplayPort and it seem to matter now. 13 hours ago, Hetzer-JG51 said: And make sure the game on the monitor is full-screen, windowed will make it cap at 60fps. Also in the thread Varibraun linked someone said that forcing VSYNC off in NVIDIA control panel solved it and that works too. This is while VSYNC has always been unchecked within the game. It is not even possible to turn on VSYNC while using VR. The mysteries of IL-2....... Anyway, it is possible to use widowed and get 90 FPS if someone prefers. 13 hours ago, Varibraun said: I had that issue awhile back for my G2 and for some reason setting WMR to 60, rebooting and then setting it back 90 worked for me to get 90 again. MrBlindspot Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Mybe im missing something but it appears i dont have the launcher.

The IL-2 Launcher - Launcher.exe - should be in your bin/game directory for IL-2. Installation normally puts a shortcut to this on the desktop. Edited April 30, 2023 by dburne
MrBlindspot Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 yeah i know that one. But i doesnt give me a windowed checkbox. It just starts the game.

You are missing my point I am afraid. I am not suggesting you use the Launcher to launch the game, just to open the Launcher and go to the Settings menu and uncheck full screen. Then close the Launcher, after that you are done with the launcher and can just start the game with the IL-2.exe shortcut and you will be running in windowed mode rather than full screen. At least that was what I understood to be your goal? To run the game in windowed mode? Edited April 30, 2023 by dburne
MrBlindspot Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Well i know what your talking about. I just cant find the launcher to get met to that settings menu. yeah i was hoping that windowed mode would maybe fix the fps cap.

ACG_Orb Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 I think i've fallen foul of this issue. I was happy playing with a set of settings that gave me 87-90fps no worries. But i started getting some DX render error crashes, so i did an integrity check on my steam install last Thursday which replaced 6 files. Since then i can't push past 63-64fps using the same settings. I can only get back to 90 when i drop the graphics down to low - so frustrating! I've reinstalled the game, rolled back to nov '22 nvidia driver checked the v-sync setting config set to 'fullscreen = 0' swapped the pico res to 75hz without any change then back to 90hz. I'm at a loss what to do next. Anyone suffered similar?

Perhaps you were using an openvr_api.dll like fholger's which adds FSR upscaling and it got replaced by the integrity check so now you are playing without said upscaling and thus worse performance?
ACG_Orb Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 Interesting idea. This after a clean install so there's no openVR or FSR present. I might install them again to test and hope they work with the Pico 4. 5 hours ago, firdimigdi said: Perhaps you were using an openvr_api.dll like fholger's which adds FSR upscaling and it got replaced by the integrity check so now you are playing without said upscaling and thus worse performance?

Thanks so much for this suggestion, pretty much sorted the problem!
Reggie_Mental Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 (edited) I have noted that frame rates can be set in up to 4 different places. 1. In your OS setting in Win10/11 2. In your GPU settings 3. In your game settings 4. In your monitor settings After checking these 4 areas, I now get 143.5 fps Edited July 16, 2023 by Reggie_Mental
