422nd_Konnel Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) Good Day everybody, If you noticed a performance drop on the Spitfire mk XIV join this thread. I don't know if you noticed, but since they released the Spitfire mk XIVe (bubble canopy) that also brought an engine performance fix. which was also applied to the Spitfire mk XIV. I felt a lot of difference in the overall performance of the Spitfire mk XIV. I'd like to know if I'm the only one with that impression or more pilots think like me. CountZero Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) its rpm was limited to 2750 from start, and its same now, also after that update and when i see that they mentioned some change to old XIV in it ( Spitfire Mk.XIV critical engine operating modes have been adjusted similar to Mk.XIVe.), i tested top speed at max power at few alt points and they were same as before update, so i dont know what exactly was changed but airplane behaved same as before. 422nd_Konnel Posted April 24, 2023 Author Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) I will test it again Edited April 24, 2023 by 422nd_Konnel wrong post

In the sense of engine power? yes, I felt the plane's engine weaker than before. On 4/24/2023 at 8:49 AM, Supercharger said: 2850 RPM is take off power limit, isn't it? In the sense of engine power? CountZero Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 what rpm you think it had before if you now think its downgraded, 3000? it always had 2750rpm from hat i see 2
422nd_Konnel Posted May 7, 2023 Author Posted May 7, 2023 I'm not talking about the maximum RPM. I felt that he lost performance even in combat mode after this update. I was enjoying flying this plane but today I find it heavy and lacking in power. When there is the option of 150oc it improves a little.
Ximira Posted June 2, 2023 Posted June 2, 2023 After the update that reduced the maximum RPM to below 3000 there was a loss of performance in the XIV spit's. Speed development is very similar to MK IX. From flight experience on the IL2, the new spit's had a reduction in performance. This is the feeling that the pilots of this plane have had since the official launch. Can some pilots comment on their experience with the machine?
Stonehouse Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 (edited) Not commenting on the discussion regarding performance but just an fyi that 2750 was the max rpm for the real aircraft. So, if it was ever higher than that it should have been reduced to where it is now. The IX was powered by a Merlin engine, the XIV was powered by a Griffon so obviously had different engine characteristics. eg max rpm on the Merlin was higher. Edited June 4, 2023 by Stonehouse 1

And what got changed in update before this topic is probably critical alt for one of engine mode, when they finished bubble version of 14
