=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 Without going into too much detail, there's some well known alpha shenanigans that only betas do to take in the sights better... On other games if you try something like that you get some type of default image mapped over the model giving no advantage. Could we get some type of missing texture image placed under all the normal models textures, and then allow all the cockpit texture files to be edited and pass the mod check? It could be as simple as just a solid black image file mapped all over the 3d model underneath the real ones.
CountZero Posted April 20, 2023 Posted April 20, 2023 this is MP only problem, where this is exploited by players, solution for years was, server lock skins to official only, this exploit is known since game was made, i doubt now is time they will waist time to make aditional black or what not 3D parts under skin for 100+ airplanes for free just to make few 100 MP players happy, when servers just have to have no costum skins and problem is avoided.

I'd want to be able to change every texture on the plane, inside and out, without enabling more exploits. There should be an easy way to fix this, a black image takes 1 sec to make, and the 3D maps to place it over already exist. Banning all skinning to prevent cheating, when a simple fix exists gives me blue balls. 1

=MERCS=JenkemJunkie Posted April 20, 2023 Author Posted April 20, 2023 In that case if you look under the skins now, theres all kinds of 3D textures for the guts of the plane, like the engines or spars. Is there any functional reason for these when we can't see them? If those got deleted and replaced with a simple black under layer, then that could potentially have better performance then what we have now, while also stopping cheaters and allowing skinners to skin everything honestly.
