chiliwili69 Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Currently my system is: OS: Windows 10 CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X Mobo: Gigabyte Aorus B550 Pro RAM: 2x16Gb DDR4-3600 CL16-16-16-36 Gskill TridentZ F4-3600C16D-32GTZR GPU: Gigabyte 3080 (I use Valve Index, so that card is quite enough) CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken X-52 PSU 1000W Next week it will arrive new components to upgrade: CPU 510€ : Ryzen 7800X3D Mobo 255€: ASUS PRIME X670-P RAM 215€: 2x16Gb DDR5-6000 CL32-38-38-96 GSkill TridentZ5 Neo F5-6000J3238F16GX2-TZ5NR My question is : What windows should I choose? 10 or 11? Will the drivers of the Mobo/CPU will depend on the windows version? Is there any issue with 10 or 11 for that new chip? Any issue with windows 11 and IL-2 in VR?
102nd-YU-cmirko Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 you could always install both as a dual boot if you have enough nvme space https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am5/x670 - you have to use specific win version drivers, they will always be the same version for both OS you should not have any issues with win11 - make sure you've updated mbo bios for latest agesa version available though, it always kind of important with 3d cache cpu's congrats on the new system ^^ - looking forwards to see the difference in performance from 5600x

102nd-YU-cmirko Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 would be interesting to see if something like this helps at all ....
Voyager Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Just note, you'll want to look up the Windows 11 godmode folder. Aside from it really wanting to tell me how awesome it would be if I let it automatically sleep USB ports it thinks I'm not using when I'm trying to find the menu to change the case power button from "Power" to "Sleep", it basically works as well as Windows 10, just with better (actually functional) HDR support. It also just feels like I've got a box of the very annoying brand of Jehovah Witnesses along with the OS. 2
NiiranenVR Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Im not sure in 10' , but in my 11' , after new CPU and so on - W11 up to date In Joblist my DWA ( desktop windows manager ) use a lot of memory So I right-click / details - right-click / prioiti - to normal or low I restart but maybe not necessarily I do it every time before game , course can't say how many turn on/off before it change prioiti to the normal - High
Rimritanya Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 (edited) You've got quite the system upgrade in the works! Both Windows 10 and 11 are solid choices, but considering your new components, Windows 11 might be a better fit. It often has better support for newer hardware and features. In terms of drivers, they generally depend more on the hardware than the Windows version. Manufacturers usually release drivers that are compatible with both Windows 10 and 11. But do check for driver updates once you make the switch to ensure everything runs smoothly. And if you ever decide to go with Windows 10, check out windows 10 pro key. It's always handy to have alternatives. Edited October 18, 2023 by Rimritanya
=LD=Bulldog* Posted October 13, 2023 Posted October 13, 2023 Windows 10 for me as I lose FFB in Windows 11 with the Sidewinder 2 FF stick. Bulldog

=LD=Bulldog* Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 I am not the only one in my squadron but it does appear to be random with W11. Microsoft were of little help and was informed that the stick does not work with W10 and W11...
AngeloWheeler Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 (edited) Hey! Congrats on the upcoming upgrades! With your new components, definitely go for Windows 11. It's optimized for newer hardware and might offer better performance. As for drivers, they should be compatible with both versions, but it's always good to double-check. If you're worried about compatibility with IL-2 in VR, you can find windows 11 cheap keys here. Good luck with upgrading! Edited April 29, 2024 by AngeloWheeler
