Panzerlang Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 (edited) 8600k CPU, 3080ti, Virtual Desktop on Godlike at 90hz with SteamVR slider at 200%. Space Warp is off, video buffering is on. Lowest FPS was 54, smoothness of moving objects 95% good and image quality superb. In general the difference between the 3080ti and 4090, I wouldn't be chomping at the bit feeling I needed to upgrade if I hadn't already done it. And that's with the game graphics still turned up for the 4090. Don't bother trying this with Pico's Streaming Assistant, it locks the native resolution to its own "Ultra" setting (SteamVR slider increase does nothing) and in-game it looks absolutely shit. chiliwili69 Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Hey, if you set that at 200% this is about 39 million pixels to be rendered. That´s too much for any graphic card. With Virtual Desktop in Godlike mode, the default resolution (100%) is 3120x3120, which is about 19.5 million pixels. If you run at 90Hz, I would not set the SteamVR slider beyond 130% or 140%. You will bottleneck your GPU and will not gain significant detail in the image. I think it is better to run at 72Hz and set the SteamVR% for a value which load your GPU no more than 80%.

I don't play the game on this 3080ti rig any more, it's just for testing. But on Godlike in VD and with 200% on the SteamVR slider, the game is perfectly playable with a superb and 95% smooth IQ. FPS ranges from 54 to 90. I'm wondering if the processor in the headset itself is adding something to the mix.
Voyager Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 If I had to guess, it's probably nor actually rendering at 200%. If this si through SteamVR, it may be possible to use fpsVR to find out what it stopped at.
Guest Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 (edited) This is from my 4090 rig. 250% on the slider is 4932 x 4932 according to this widget. Just after exiting the game but the salient figures are what I was seeing in the cockpit. Edited April 14, 2023 by Hetzer-JG51
FTC_ChilliBalls Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 IIRC, the creator of VD advocates always going 100% with SteamVR. You may want to follow the dude's advice. 1

I'd assume his advice refers to using the actual desktop rather than any given game. Why would I go with 100% when the game's IQ is incredibly better at 200+%? 1
