Opinions on Virtual Desktop vs Streaming assistant (Pico4).

So the wired ethernet connection doesn't work with my router, maybe a Japanese thing.

I've now tried SA (Streaming Assistant) with a 5gb USB-C and have used the exact same rez (3160, by adjusting in SteamVR) as with VD (Virtual Desktop) and while it gives stronger colours the image quality is significantly reduced. I have absolutely no idea why other than the bitrate might be lower than VD's 150. I put MSAA up to x8, there was a tiny hit on FPS without any noticeable improvement in image quality.
Unfortunately SA gives no means of adjusting the bitrate.
NeckSafer is now working with SA, no idea why it wasn't before. However, when I use the snap-view with it I see very fine lines appear, the app's boundaries I guess.
SA is also now capping FPS at 60 with 90htz selected. Makes no odds, the game runs smooth. It might be I have the desktop view windowed.

As is often the case, one piece of software gives with one hand while taking away with the other. But as cable vs wifi seems to make not a jot of difference to fps and smoothness I'll stick to VD's superior image quality. I'll use the cable to power the headset from a wall-socket adapter, it does that very well.

NB: It's possible the SA is locking the resolution and making adjustments in SteamVR pointless.
