TG-55Panthercules Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 (edited) These posts have been copied from a thread on the old RoF forums originally posted by Kartaugh: Possible fix for squadron mates not taking off during career missions! Originally posted by Kartaugh: I think I have found the culprit for the odd behavior displayed by planes refusing to take off and join the flight. In the cplaneai.txt file, there is a line, right at the end, that reads : SeniourWingmanTOSpeedTreshold = 30.0 // лимит скорости старшего ведомого, при превышении этого лимита разрешено взлетать боту-ведомому, в м/с. The russian text says that this is the speed of the "master plane" at which the "slave plane" will start a takeoff roll. Meaning that when the first plane in the squadron reaches that speed, the next one starts its takeoff roll. Now, 30 m/s is 108 km/h, which is pretty fast. I noticed that the next takeoff roll only started when the first plane was already in the air and off a ways away. This led me to thinking maybe slowing down the requirement would alleviate the problem, so I changed the value from 30 to 10, meaning 36 km/h. Lo! and behold, the planes started taking off right after the previous plane started accelerating down the grass! I have not experienced a single case of takeoff refusal since I made that change, and that has also affected the behavior of the flight during the mission. What I think was happening was that the flight kept checking for all living wingmen at each waypoint, and when they didn't detect the wingman at a certain distance, they simply resorted to circling the waypoint endlessly, waiting for the missing man that refused to take off. This behavior has also ceased, since all wingmen are now taking off. I hope this fix works as well for y'all as it's working for me. Cheers! Then load the various AI mods. via JSGME after having set/saved the value in the "cplaneai" file. Happy flying, Von S vonOben., on 24 Sept 2022 - 01:28, said: Good find, thanks for letting us know! I think it may be that the mod enabler doesn't work. However great work with those mods, really worked well. VonS, on 12 Dec 2022 - 04:24, said: @kestrel, thank you for the kind words -- pleased to know that the AI/DM mods. helped to improve the single-player RoF experience. I hope to revisit RoF in the future for some PWCG campaigning (if only I could fully eliminate cloud flickering on AMD vid., will perhaps tinker with that some more). By the way, for those reading these posts -- I fly RoF on a locked-down ver. 1809 of Windows 10 Pro (same ver. that the LTSC branch of Win10 is based on) -- with a few manually installed updates applied outside of the automatic Windows Update (thank you WUB for allowing for a convenient on/off switch for auto-updates) -- so I have no idea if my RoF mods. work in later iterations of Win10 or Win11 too. Theoretically, all of the mods. should work** -- but perhaps JSGME (the classic mod. enabler) is not compatible with fresher installs of Windows 10 (although the WoFF crowd seems to be running JSGME even in Win11...). I only test my mods. with JSGME so I don't know if other mod-loaders work with my RoF mods., or even with various vers.*** of Windows for that matter. ** Note 1: if interested in running my AI/DM mods. in RoF in Win11 or vers. of Win10 in which your mod-enabler of choice is not compatible, and if you are feeling brave, feel free to load the relevant files found in my mods. manually, into the appropriate folders in your RoF game folders. We First Eagles 2 fliers prefer "manual" modding -- works just fine but maybe make a copy of your vanilla RoF folders if you choose this option. *** Note 2: by "various vers." Von S means the myriad feature updates and whatnot that are available for Windows 10 (it is assumed that RoF mods. and mod-enablers run fine in Windows 7 and 8.1) Cheers all, kestrel444, on 13 Dec 2022 - 01:02, said: I added your DM tweak mod to Mods folder and it seems to work okay. No broken wings mostly engine fire or pilot kills firing from 100m an often 50m. Shooting wings off at 250m plus just spoiled the game. A lot of thanks for your mods they make the sim enjoyable. Now I can play the single missions and campaigns with the mod. casperpitbull, on 26 Feb 2023 - 14:39, said: Hello, would it be possible for someone to direct me to the cplaneai file please. I have been unable to find it. Thanks in advance. VonS, on 26 Feb 2023 - 18:32, said: @casperpitbull, the relevant file to tweak, as per Kartaugh's initial post, is found in the following directory path of any of the relevant AI mods folders -----> data/LuaScripts/ai/cplaneai.txt A note regarding such details has also recently been included under the RoF AI/DM Consolidated Mods post located on CombatAce. Look for "IMPORTANT NOTE (Feb. 20, 2023)" while there to find the appropriate info. Additional note for this thread: should I come up with any further tweaks/improvements to the AI and/or DM mods in the future, for RoF United, updates will be indicated under the thread on CombatAce that hosts the mods, with info. posted under the RoF threads on SimHQ too -- since this particular forum is eventually (soon?) going into read-only retirement mode. Cheers all & happy flying, Panthercules, on 26 Feb 2023 - 18:46, said: Discussions of RoF will also continue on the new RoF Forum portion of the IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles/Flying Circus Forums (here: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/forum/162-rise-of-flight/) so hopefully you will also keep us posted on any such developments over on the new RoF forums as well. casperpitbull, on 27 Feb 2023 - 07:12, said: @VonS thank you for your detailed response.
