Virpil encoders to virtual axis problem

Hi fellow simmers,

I have a problem that I can't find a solution to and I have watched all YT videos and browsed every forum to find the answer.

How do I configure the encoders on the VPC #2 panel as virtual axis?
In every way I have tried IL-2 dont see the virtual axis created and the frustration is rising ?

Very strange, I have with assitance of som great guys in DCS forum got virtual axis to work in DCS.
However I still can't get them to be recognised in IL-2 which bothers me a lot!
I have edited the global.actions file and entered the axises here and it still wont work.
The method is sound since it is the same procedure I use to get the VPC stick pinky axis to work as brakes for allied planes.
rpc_yaw_trim,                                     joy5_axis_rz,                                     0| // Rudder trim axis

Any ideas is appreciated.

I have come to the conclusion that IL-2 can't handle virtual axises!
This is a real pity and cements my opinion about the controller interface as subpar and detrimental to an otherwise really excellent simulator.

Indeed. I also did a lot of investigations on the virtual axes, could properly set one but IL-2 struggled to recognize. From the settings screen, when I tried to associate the axis, instead of recognizing the axis IL-2 recognized the corresponding buttons associated to the knob rotation. I also manually added the joyXX_axis_rz to the config files and it didn't work here too.

 

 

 

By the way, I couldn't set encoders properly on DCS as well. DCS can recognize them but when I rotated the increment was so low that I would have to repeat several times in order to go from 0 to 100%. Probably there's a way to configure on DCS but I was already so stressed from my IL-2 experiences that I have never tried again.

@VilsonFariasThere is a setting for that in VPC Configuration Tool when creating the virtual axis.
Setting the step value here higher solves the problem

That's really interesting, @SvAF/F16_Goblin. Thanks for sharing this info. I'll revisit the button to axis when I have time. Meanwhile, if you are lucky enough to get it properly working on IL-2, please share here.

If it's like with their throttle then you probably have to also calibrate the new virtual axis. It's dumb, but that's what got mine sorted out in a similar scenario with IL-2.

I will see if that is possible but the virtual axis dont seem to be possible to calibrate.
