AI Gunner airkills in single player?

Hi there,

since release I spend many hours in FC career mode already , most time in two seaters and bombers. 
In all this time I have not experienced that my gunners shoot down an enemy airplane or would have seen them drive off an enemy. Sometimes they are now able to hit from closest distance.

But in furball situations l get a lot punish messages for friendly hits. 

On the other side I am more successful if I do it myself, had some kills, set some engines on fire or force the enemy drive off from me.

For me it feels like they are simply not able to hit.

How about the experience of other players?

How many airkills your gunners have? I fly mostly DFW with twin Parabellum MG, no scores so far. Airco also some hours, nothing… ??‍♂️

Same experience here, since a few updates ago they seem to enjoy shooting at clouds.

I will highly recommend @Stonehouse’s AI gunnery mod.

With this mod the AI tail gunners are again able to hit an enemy or drive them away instead of slowly they approaching from behind and demolishing their own aircraft at will while simply ignoring the red zone of the combatbox.  But the same applies to me in the role of the fighter, I can no longer walk around in an enemy bomber formation without spitting blood afterwards ?

Enemy fighters also seem to shoot more accurately, so it's easy to catch an enemy bullet from oncoming fighters with my teeth.

Unfortunately this mod doesn't change the overall poor performance of the AI fighter planes, I hope the devs will be able make em more skilfully/challenging.

This is one area where WOFF shines. I can easily fly a Morane or any other 2 seater in that sim, just a bit in front of and to the sides of an enemy, and my AI gunner has no problem shooting down enemies.

 

I don't own FC but I have extensive experience in ROF and it seems AI has always had problems in this series of sims. VonS really improved AI in ROF since though. I would second using AI gunnery for FC, I use it in the WW2 modules and it vstly improves the sim when compared to vanilla.
