CAG_Kirk Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 Greetings everyone, I have been conducting extensive research on the appropriate color schemes for skinning German aircraft, particularly the 109. However, I have encountered numerous conflicting sources. At present, I am using this website, https://emmasplanes.com/index.php/paints/rlm-colors/, to obtain the hex codes, but some of the shades do not appear to be accurate. I am aware that colors varied significantly during the war, making it challenging to find exact matches. However, depending on the sources I consult, the colors can vary to such an extent that they significantly alter the aircraft's appearance. Consequently, my question is whether there is a widely accepted chart or table that closely approximates the digital skin color scheme. 1
Hanu Posted April 2, 2023 Posted April 2, 2023 I have relied on ICDP's and BlackHellHound's colors found in their templates. I trust their research and when using those colors, your skin is In-par with other skins that are already in the game. Thank you for the link however, have to check those too.

YouTHEN , of course, have the real-life ins and outs of who, how, when and where... ICDP's, BHH's, mine and other's are basic representations of what was what and then from there the paint-scheme is kind of on it's own. Each different plane and different models of said planes went off to different parts of the world, with different conditions and were even re-painted 'in the field' after sustaining damage etc. I think, as skinners, we all have 'licence' to represent each skin with more than a small amount of artistic licenceas we will NEVER know (or be able to represent) what the machines actually loooked like. Even the paint mixes of pre-defined colours were slightly different from different factories. A great example I always think of when the subject of actual paints come up is this, "The aircraft was finished in a standard 74/75/76 colourscheme but constant and relentless polishing to get every knot of speed out of the machine led to a very worn - down paint finish". Start with a base from a great source such as yours, or any of the above, and then let your creative juices do the rest I say!! Rap 1
