It may have been since a recent upgrade to win10.. but I've recently been stuck at 30 fps.

Doesn't budge, something must be fixing it to that.

Previously it was quite variable, but averaged around 60 or so.

In RoF I'm averaging around 70.. which makes me think it's not NVIDIA settings..

So for now, here's my graphics settings, and computer specs :

image.jpeg.0809f100495396a524c20645f82b15a5.jpeg

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7600K CPU @ 3.80GHz   3.80 GHz,  16.0 GB.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, DirectX 12.

Windows 10 Pro.

Panasonic TX-40DX 700B HD TV.

If anyone has any ideas where I can begin to look for a solution, I'd be most grateful.

It maybe the monitor driver needs updating and it is running a generic driver limiting 4K to 30hz? Is it HDMI or DisplayPort?

Not sure what might have changed but imho, your settings are way too high for running 4k...

I would unclick distant buildings, go low on grass and mirrors, consider no FXAA, and lower shadows and reflections...

Or of course could run in slightly lower res..

Double check power management in NVIDIA settings, that one will instantly cap your performance severely, like half.  Prefer Maximum Performance on.

Is the 30 FPS the internal IL2 FPS Counter value?

Thanks for the replies so far..

The monitor driver is up to date, and I tried 'rolling it back' - still the same. Connected via HDMI.

I had previously tried reduced settings, and tried what you suggested Tzigy, including lowering resolution.

No change, except when I lowered resolution - fps stuck at 15 !

'Prefer Max Settings' was already selected in NVIDIA, but maybe the issue is somewhere else in those settings ?

The fps value is from fraps, but the in-game display was the same.

I'll try an old monitor I have in the attic later today if I get the chance, and I'll upload screen shots of my NVIDIA settings when I can.

Although I don't understand why I can get 70 fps in RoF ?

Anyway, I'll post back as things happen and will gratefully receive any further suggestions meantime !

Cheers,

ZF.

Strange and i feel your pain...

Post your Nvidia setting, both general and program specific

Worried its your upgrade to win10? Quick google search seems to support that...

In settings, System, Display, Advanced should tell you the refresh (assuming the monitor is set to 3840 x 2160 in display settings)

It's a fairly old GPU Zoo but if you got decent FPS before the win10 update it's pretty weird. Have you tried rolling back the win10 update? And did this issue also begin after the recent FC update? I hate these kinds of rabbit holes. They drive you insane and, in a moment of weakness, can be unproductive if an open window is handy.

Yes Baldrick, we're showing 60Hz in System\Display. Was set to 30 the other day when I looked, but I'd already changed it.. to no effect.

I've tried an old (dvi) monitor - fps behaving exactly the same.

So can probably tick the monitor side of things off, for now at least.

I've found a potential 'fix' to fps being affected by a win10 update, so I'll give that a go later. It's only changing a few Registry settings.. what could go wrong !

(I'll back the Reg up first of course).

In the meantime here's my NVIDIA settings below.

I have screwed around with them lately in regard to this problem, so they're likely not all where they were a short time ago.

But if anything jumps out as being suspect.. I'm still all ears !

Thanks all,

What does strike me as odd is that your settings are for launcher.exe rather than il-2.exe. I use the Steam version, so I'm not 100% sure, but I'd say that the settings would need to be set for il2.exe (as in the Steam version) as that is the application doing the factual 3d rendering.

Could you double-check your settings for il-2.exe?

It would be interesting to see your RoF settings too, just in case there is something different (like vysnc)

Also, antialias TRANSPARENCY..custom?  Needs to be OFF...i think..

JOY AND EXALTATION !

I checked the settings for IL2.exe as opposed to the 'launcher', and aligned those.

Then changed antialias transparency to 'off' as suggested.

Now I'm getting an average of 90 fps .

I'll start cranking up a few settings now, see how far I can push them..

Much thanks to all who helped.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - when you need help this forum is fantastic.

May all your favourite planes be announced in the next DD !
