How many are there? This Includes all the variants and sub-variants, for example, the Fw 190 A-6 can be converted to the the G-3 via mods, the Hurricane Mk.II can become the Mk.IV, and so on. (Count each variant as another plane)

Why don’t you go to the sales pages and count them yourself?

That PLUS all the variants - like how War Thunder counts their planes (each variant is considered another plane).

Take the Me 410 A-1 for example, there are 7 possible variants ingame:

  • Me-410 A-1/U2
  • Me-410 A-1/U4
  • Me-410 B
  • Me-410 B-2
  • Me-410 B-2/U1
  • Me-410 B-2/U2
  • Me-410 B-2/U4

I originally come from War Thunder, so I tend to count them as separate aircraft even though they aren't. I'm curious about how many there are in total in the game, so just the Me-410 alone, that's 8 planes

I ran out of fingers and toes just trying to count the 109G6 variants, so I had to stop.  Sorry.

You only have one finger or toe?

THOUSANDS!

Or do you mean "How many models and variants are in the game?"

Oh the joys of the English language.
"How many planes"?
How many people playing?
How many aircraft in each mission / sortie?
How many people playing multiplayer?
Etc, etc.

The plane numbers vary depending on the global system on the day.

Sarcasm intended.

Who cares really. What matters is how many you like to fly. If that got over two digit’s you’re good ?

Yes, 1 finger.  I understand that there is some burden of proof on me to display the finger, but I’m pretty sure it would result in a ban, so you’ll have to take my word for it.

If signatures ever come back, this is going to be mine...properly quoted of course.

At least a hundred for sure. Can't give you an exact number because I don't know all them.

The IAR 80/81 will also bring another seven variants. So just two planes alone will add up to 16 planes in total ?

I played War Thunder too and there's a popular saying (or at least there was) that the Great Battles series has very few planes in comparison to Germany's, UK's, Russia's WW2 lineups in War Thunder. Most non-IL-2 players have no idea about the many different mods that most planes offer that literally create different variants of planes.

Is a plane taking off with 100% fuel the same as the plane taking off at 95% fuel? I'd say no, two diff variants!

That considered, I counted 1 324 988 different aircrafts in this sim, not too shabby.

I think that's really 3.  A-1, B-1, and B-2.  The "U"s are equipment variations but not different aircraft models.  Still, by the time you mash up every equipment and engine variation the number of possible variations probably gets into 4 digits.

Okay, well what about situations where the factory produced version was given a different designation, but the factory refit version was given an equipment variation?

I think some Fw-190s were like this... and at the very least, some "U"s were retroactively redesignated into F or G variants later on in the war.

Then the number of possible variations gets into 5 digits :)
