Custom skins not working.

I did a search here, nothing came up. When I go to choose a custom skin in the drop-down menu the field underneath is blank. This is my first time firing up the game since the tactical markings stuff was implemented, is it something to do with that?

Did you first download a custom skin into the download file, then place the .dds file in the correct aircraft name file under :

program Files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/IL2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad/data/graphics/skins/(aircraft name)

?

OR This PC>Drive>IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles>data>graphics>Skins>Name of Aircraft - if you're not on Steam.

 

You're in your pre-mission Hangar, yeah (or Mission choice area)?

It won't let you choose until you get there... It also doesn't give you a visual preview for your custom skin, only the name of your skin(s).

Thanks guys. Your posts prompted a thought that proved correct, the shortcut on my desktop pointed to a second install of the game in the Programs folder that wasn't modded. I recall having to do a fresh install because migrating the original didn't work without registry keys. All good now.
