Charon Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 (edited) The water injection button in the P-47 is a momentary switch in real life: (From Pilot's Flight Operating Instructions for Army Models P-47D-25, -26, -27, -28, -30, and -35 airplanes, AN 01-075BC-1A). It would be great to have a binding for the boost that was active only so long as it was held. I set mine up this way with Joystick Gremlin and I find it affects the way I fly it... it feels a little more natural to kick in the water for a few seconds of acceleration at a key moment when I don't need to think to recall what state it's in, and also I don't worry about forgetting and leaving it on past when I need it. For anyone who wants to try setting it up like this today, here's the macro I set in Joystick Gremlin: Spoiler Edited March 22, 2023 by I./JG3_Charon 1 1
Charon Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 Also: Quote The water control switch is objectionable because it must be held "on" by the pilot. This occupies the pilot's left hand and he cannot trim the plane or use both hands on the stick which is necessary to make a tight turn. Charon Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 Apparently my understanding was incomplete: Technical Order 01-65BC-114 describes the installation of a new, "flashlight style" switch which can be used either as a momentary or fixed position switch, to be installed on D-21 through D-28 models, with D-27 and subsequent including the switch from the factory. 1
