For the PC build experten (I'm being kind of lazy).

I'm going to re-assemble my sim rig and intend to run it from a dedicated PC. It won't be cheap, the hardware prices here in Japan are seriously inflated ($2600 for a 4090 for instance) but I have an unlimited budget. So...I've heard the latest Intel chips (i9 13900k) run somewhat hot but are they the best solution otherwise? And what RAM (as in, specifically)? I'll try and go full Asus (Rog Strix?) as far as possible.

TIA for any insights. :)

Little cheating i did in the past..go to one of the top gaming PC company websites (e.g. FNW)...build a top system, see what components they r using...then go on a price hunt... ??

Yeah, it won't be cheap...

I have just build a pc to play IL-2 GB, as I have had prebuild pc;s before and they always missing something. And it don't be so easy to change things in them to be like you want. I did check, what pebuild pc;s could offer, but didn't find anything which would have everything I want. And if something could be even close, they cost alot, so I decide to build one by my self and maybe pay little bit more, but atleast getting what I want.

I only play 1440p, not vr.

So this is what I build :

Fractal desing Meshify 2 case - big enough.

Kolink Continuum 1050w psu gold - cheap in sale

3x Arctic 140mm pwm fans on front, 1 Fractal own 140mm dc fan on bottom and 1 Fractal own 140mm dc fan on rear.

Asus Rog Strix Z790-f motherboard - Z790 fit straight to the intel 13 series, ddr5 and have 10 usb ports on rear and decent onboard sound card.

Kingston Fury Beast ddr5 6000Mhz memory - 32gb (2x16).

Intel i9 - 13900K processor.

Arctic liquid freezer II 360 AiO cooler for i9 on top.

Asus Rog Strix RTX 4090 - OC. I was plan to get same card, but 4080, but shop where I want to buy it, didn't get them and they drop 4090 prize with 100€.

Kingston KC3000 1tb ssd - for windows.

Kingston Fury Renegade 1tb ssd - for IL.

Corsair Mp600 ssd - for everything else.

+ Allkind extra wires, rgb...

This was first weekend to play / test this new machine with il-2 and ... well ... I'm ... pretty pleased ... Normandy map still been tough, but not surprise.

On temps, from msi afterburner - Gpu 40-50C, Cpu 40-70C (actually see 68C as highest, what I notice) and these from stock settings, not oc.

Fps were mainly around 200-340, but over normandy landings area, after landings, time to time drop closer to 100. Now I'm going to limit them to 165 (screen native) with v-sync.

Cost was around 4700€, but right now I can't say, what I would have done / buy differently, so ...

got a fractal D6 case a amazon at 120 euro with a slight scratch, imo a better choice.

had again hardware problems with an Asus MB, ended with a MSI edge z790 DDR5, now flawless for 3 months,

Gigabyte aorus 'gaming' GPU 3080ti, bought because of 4 year warranty; needed it before with a 2080ti when it crashed after 2.5 years.

My recent build (July of 2022) included an Intel I-7 13700K with an ASUS Z790-F ROG Strix motherboard and Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5-5600 RAM.  I am repurposing my RTX 3080 for now; I want to see what comes out next (post-4000 series) for NVIDIA cards. For cases, I switched from Fractal Meshify to NZXT H7 Flow,  and I am very happy with the quality and airflow.  I have an EKWB AIO CPU Cooler Basic 360, which is an excellent cooler, along with four additional NZXT case fans.  I am very happy with this setup for now and hope that it will carry me for some time.

Are you sure the 13900k is superior to AMD's 7950X 3d in gaming? The 3d version of 7950x and 7900x were already released and most of the reviews show them superior gaming chips to the latest intel releases. They are also running cooler and are less power hungry than their non 3d versions.

I've always gone Intel, too much ongoing driver issues with AMD stuff over the years.

I've gone with the i9 13900k and purchased most of the stuff from Newegg (free shipping to Japan too). The CPU cost me around $70 more than it would have in Japan, but the 4090 was around $800 cheaper (and most of the other bits were significantly cheaper too). I figured Newegg might get decent CPUs too, due to the size of their company (and Japan gets the un-binned keck, lol).

I went Gigabyte on the mobo and 4090, despite some reviews complaining about coil whine, because so far the stuff I've had from them over the years has been solid (apart from their godawful app software, lol).

Thanks for the input guys, appreciate it. :)

Pit re-build. I'm going to put a base between the boards, over the pedals, for the new PC to sit on. I'll put a dash in too, for the keyboard. :)

If MSFS2020 serves as reference for flight sim.

"7800X3D" is simulated disabling some cores of 7950X3D.

Little difference of i9-13900K from i7-13700K.
