Game only grts to Hanger scene , then I get this message Open VR fail but nothing further:

I don't know the exact error message, but it's certainly related to OpenXR. You're probably better off filing a bug report on their side, AFAIK it's not supported by IL2.

 

Regrettably, OpenXR is not quite as stable as SteamVR. If OpenXR crashes, it kills the whole game. If SteamVR crashes, you're usually able to reconnect again and fly on from where you left off. I occasionally get a similar error, when the connection between my HMD and PC glitches. OpenXR is just not able to recover.

One way this can happen in IL2 is if the or_ipd value gets messed up in startup.cfg. Sometimes the game will write a non numeric value there and cannot parse it next time you launch it. I've observed this happening when using an emulated HMD like the one the WMR Portal provides. So if this happens again first check the startup.cfg file.
