Going onto base the other day a B-52 was sitting on the ramp running its engines, and it was making a huge layer of smog over the whole area. But, new engines! I'll get excited when they start getting fielded.

As seen from the parking lot of my office building.

Both the current engines, and the new ones provide more thrust potential than the airframe can take, so they are intentionally limited through the FADEC.

I grew up not far at all from March Air Force Base in the 80s and 90s, so seeing B-52s take off was a regular occurrence. And yep, they are very, very loud.

Back in the 80's, I had one. It was all mine, at least for 12 hours. I walked from wing tip around the nose to wing tip. Back and forth, back and forth. I ensured her safety with every step I took. But at no time was I allowed to be closer ten 10 feet from this beautiful lady. Lovely planes to look at. But after walking them 12 hours a day for a week, you just want them to go back to the hanger.
