AAA general questions - night and activation

HI.

Done some experiment on activating and de-activating artillery and searchlights night-time.

Tried a lot of setups from various downloaded groups from different origin.

===============

So far Checkzones and Complex triggered setups seem to work best. Proximity triggers maybe less easy ..?

BTW I think you need to activate a searchlight to make AA artillery work in the night with these ... ?

Also read somewhere that Checkzone and Proximity are not suitable for MP setups, but i have only experience with SP missions.

=============

I also tried spawning AA. With latter the artillery seems to fire anyway, thus also in the darkness,

but an INDEPENDENTLY spawner triggered Searchlight does not seem to fire, but i am still messing around with this setup.

Fot lLatter test i used Sketch's "Sketch_Dynamic Groups" downloaded, see original attachment below (and thank you Sketch for this).

Tried  the included Axis Anti Air.group, and exchanged two AA MCUs with a Searchlightger.

AA guns fire OK on an allied plane coming in range. The Searchlight seems activated in the game but does not light up.

Maybe it needs an extra timer set somewhere ? Or should it be triggered by the same spawner, i still must try that.

=======

Q: Generally it looks if it takes more time for a triggered Searchlight to start ...?

Ideas welcome, and thanks for looking.

Yes, checkzones are the best method for spawning/activating AAA

You do need a searchlight in the near vicinity for AA guns to fire at night. Once the searchlight locks on a plane, the gun will fire if it can track the plane.

AA Machine guns will not fire the same way.

Are you suggesting you have to use the same spawner MCU for the searchlight and the AA gun for them to fire? I have not found that to be the case.

The searchlights turn on and off by triggering a Force Complete low or high MCU. Low for on, high for off.

Ah, thnx, yep, think my search lights were too far away ... and must try the FC then...

Fixed; Sketch' setup now works well (with the FC added):

Is there anyway to switch the searchlights on during the day?...My mission is at 8:30am Rheinland winter January heavy cloud and is dark, but no searchlights come on.

To my knowledge they will switch on and off depending on the internal calendar and time of the day that you have set up. Let's say that they will switch on at a certain level of darkness and off in the morning with a certain level of light. But the light level does not depend on the cloud cover or the real light level of the moment, it's time of the day according to calendar. You have only one possibility is to make the mission start earlier. Check by the quarter hour until they switch on.
