Wardog5711 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I fell in love with this plane as a kid. And I still have the old MPC 1/72 model I built in the Mid 1980's hanging in my workshop. 6
Trooper117 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I used to go and see the Vulcan at Bruntingthorpe... I also used to fly from Stoughton Airfield in Leics and overfly Bruntingthorpe in a Cessna 152. You could often see one outside the hangers. I've seen them flying so many times and it was a thrill everytime to see one, especially at low level. It was almost frightening when they put full power on!
BOO Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Privileged to see the back end of an unofficial display of XH558 over Scampton back in 2015 I think. If it wasn’t its last flight it was pretty close. It was doing a flyover at the International Bomber Memorial or maybe Waddo (I think) and I figured it might have found a way to take advantage of Scamptons airspace restrictions for the Red Arrows. Tear arsed it across the county to catch the last few minutes. Being so close to the Red arrows and watching them rehearse up to six times a day, few things make folk around here stop and look up. The Vulcan had that effect. The Lancaster still does. was such a shame it’s last hurrah was seen by so few.
Gingerwelsh Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) Here's my last sighting over RAF Marham in 2015, on its last day tour of airfields before grounding. .. .. Edited March 10, 2023 by Gingerwelsh 2 1
Wardog5711 Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 Thunderball is my all time favorite Bond movie. When I was kid, the Vulcan was the main attraction. As I got older, my primary focus changed to other things with sleak lines, but the Vulcan stayed on the list. 1

AngleOff66 Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 (edited) I know it isnt perfect but the new tool 1/72nd Vulcan looks the part to me. https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235090170-new-airfix-vulcan-bmk2/#comment-4020929 I really wish that the mod Vulcan had been completed in the other sim.
