Currently using:

i7-12700K, RTX4090, 2x32GB DDR4 C16 3333MHz, Reverb G2, 1000Watt Powersupply

In general am happy with the performance, but always looking for ways to improve ability to maintain 90fps.

It would be very easy upgrade to 13700k or 13900k as it would be just a CPU swap. Based on some reviews I saw, I would expect good 20% improvements for min fps. Thoughts?

Any recommendation on whether there's a benefit to 13900k over 13700k for IL-2?

13700k seems to be easily overclockable to 5.5ghz all core, based on some reading I did online. I'm wondering if OC 13700K would be equivalent to 13900K? Any other feedback that's relevant would be appreciated. Not planning on switching platform to DDR5 nor AMD at this point. Thank you.

I think if you do some research into the 5800x3D, or the new chips that have v-cache, you will find that they are generally going to be the most beneficial when it comes to gaming in VR and also in simulations. The upcoming 7800x3D looks really enticing (I was too impatient and ended up with the 7950x3D but it has been fantastic for my VR experiences).

If you are dead-set on sticking with Intel, you probably can't go wrong with either of those, but I would argue that having great boost or single-core performance is not what is best for VR and sims.

I7 seems to be a better overclocker than the i9 and with overclocking seems to achieve near base i9 performance. Don’t know what the price difference is, but if you’re not comfortable overclocking, I’d go with the i9 and call it a day. That’s what I did.
