69th_Mobile_BBQ Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 (edited) Please review treetop hitboxes: Some tree hit boxes are well above the actual tree models themselves. More than once, I've fired cannon rounds over the visible treetops only to have the rounds explode against an invisible wall just above the trees. Sometimes, the rounds that should clear the treetops explode right in my own face as my plane also hits the invisible hitbox. Every time, I am absolutely positive that my plane has enough altitude and my shooting angle is enough to go over the visible tree models. On my graphics settings 1080x1920, when sitting on the ground, I can actually see a faint line hovering about 10 feet above the tree models. That is the REAL height of the tree hit boxes. When it comes to flying over the trees, it's almost impossible to see that hitbox line and to be honest, this is a rather stupid thing to have to worry about in any respectable flight sim. Props Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 I have had this happen several times in the last 2 months online. Average attack speed then wing comes off and I die. No one shot me, AAA or aircraft, and I was well clear of obstacles.
Wardog5711 Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 I'll get this passed up the line to QA. Thanks for the report.

Please disregard my last sentence in my OP. Looking back at it, I was being unnecessarily harsh. Sorry. Regardless, these tree models that have incorrect hitboxes should be testable in both single and multi-player. It might even be possible to simply review the tree models in whatever object editor software the team might be using.
[CPT]Crunch Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 I used to have that problem, but in VR setting the world scaling up to 112% seems to eliminate it. Can fly down rivers, roads, forest tops, and streets without fear, haven't hit anything in months.
FeuerFliegen Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 I think it should also be looked at how trees interact with gunfire, bombs, and parachutes. All three of these aspects could be greatly improved.
