On the selector for items at the top right in the ME there's a collection of selected Groups.

In my case filled with double names, erroneous ones etc. Where can you edit that or reset it?

Look for files with the file type ".Group" under \data\Missions or a sub-folder of that. The group file is accompanied by language files such as .eng, .fra, etc., like a mission. You have duplicate group files in different folders, which is why you see duplicates in the Groups category at the top right of the editor.

You can delete any unwanted duplicates. Also, you can rename all the files for a group (.Group, .eng, .fra, etrc.) in Windows file explorer or place the group on the terrain, select it, resave it under another name, and delete the original group from its folder. You need to restart the editor to see the changes.

To manage the groups discussed above, I have two group folders:

\data\Missions\Groups                  - For groups that I want to keep

\data\Missions\Groups - Temp     - For groups that I want to try out

The groups in the "Temp" folder occur last in the Groups category at the top right of the editor.

Note:

  • There are other groups that do not appear in the Group category of the editor. These are groups such as those that place all the miscellaneous buildings etc. on the terrain (provided with the game and stored under data/Template). See "Save Objects, MCUs, and Groups" and "Import Saved Objects, MCUs, and Groups" on pg. 28-29 of the editor manual for how to save and import your own groups.

  • "Access Saved Objects, MCUs, and Groups in the Object Library" on pg. 30 of the editor manual indicates that you can place groups under \data\Multiplayer\Dogfight, but this is not correct. The groups will not show up unless you place them somewhere under the Missions folder.

I had my Groups file in Missions named - - GROUPS. Renaming that to GROUPS makes no difference BTW.

In that folder a lot of 'grouped' subfolders. f.i. AAA, Ambush, JimTM Manual, many more ...

They do not appear as folder names, but seems the groups within do..

Some others do also, name and all, but are not there as group file at all.

Think the culprit is that i save group files some times inside foldered missions also, especially when experimenting.

Tidy-ing the lot, worse that book keeping LoL Just started.

I keep different group files under the "Template" directory, and when I am working on a mission type such as Flying Circus or Battle of Normandy, I move the folder under "Missions" and delete all the text files to clean it up. That way they stay neat and organized by map. You can either import from that file or place them manually. With the files under "Template" you can only import the .grp files. I use them extensively to save time.

Must try that. Did not know about GTP-ed files only; but i have a lot of pre-edited map sets in templates.

A re-gtp exe might be a useful tool BTW.
