airplane advanced controls and procedures

Hi guys, first post here for me as an IL-2 fan (and Histomod most of all) eager to see what BoS could be (already pre-ordered the premium version).

I wonder if something like CEM would be offered to the players, I mean, not only taking care of engine when flying but having some separate commands like batteries, master, magnetos, fuel pump, mixture, primer, parking brakes, reticle gunsight on/off, gun safe switch, bail out procedures etc etc.

The graphic seem so astonishing (as well physics, atmosphere and so on) that would be a pity in my humble opinion not to implement to a "simulator" level this new sim: in few word, we'll be having a (very enhanced indeed) game or a WW2 sim?

My best regards and thanks anyway to this enthusiast team! (from an enthusiast WW2 warbird fan)

Have to clarify better: for sure such commands do exist in IL-2 and in BoS as well but I'm talking about the procedures so that to start an engine tu push a button is not enough....hence battery, master, fuel pump, primer mixture or prop pitch all of this should be activated in the proper sequence as well as after starting waiting before oil and water have reached the right temperature.... Now I've given the idea I think!

Welcome here Gianlucabatti!

I think CEM will be not that complex.

A kind of answer to it has been given in the Q&A of the Dev Diary number I.

'13) Can we expect the clickable cockpits?

No. We create a simulation of air combat (this includes attacking ground targets). The pilot will only receive critical systems, propeller pitch, boost, altitude control, different mechanization, weapons and more. Procedural training device it will not be, it will be a game simulator. We would like to return to the original idea of ????????????the "IL-2 Sturmovik", because we believe that it was great.'

While I can appreciate wanting to have those additional controls for a start up procedure I would rather have them focus development time to other areas which are critical to game play.  I would rather see better AI and or giving the needed tools for MP etc.  Once the plane is started that's basically the last time you touch those controls.  I don't think they are going to get into extensive emergency procedures which might include some of those things.  Focus on what the original IL2 did and make them better is the way to go IMO

If I understand it correctly - and it's my hope that it ends up this way at some point - is that the start up procedure will be simplified, however the time to start up and or the various procedures involved will be modelled.

I'm sure in the coming Dev updates this will be covered and explained in more detail.

I'm pretty sure with what everyone said this will be a feature already since CLoD has this. :)

Try again. ;) The game isn't being built on the CLoD engine.

It does seem like something people would enjoy, but this early in development might be a bad time for it, IMO. Do the heavy lifting now, save the cake for afterwards.

I would definitely like to see the CEM to be as "Complex" as it has been in CoD with an option to toggle reality on/off for dedservers.

Best Allons!

It's already been stated that's not going to happen. This isn't CLoD 2.0.

It's a il-2 2.0, so just press "I to star engine and go. :)

Hope that dont be exaclty as il-2 with "cut throttle to cool the engine if overheat, rinse and repeat".

CEM this another game is far from "complex", is more to please filmmakers...

Load up ROF, and you'll see that it's not.

It'll be interesting to see you press I to start engine and go.

Especially when your engine craps out and you're either stalling into the trees, or gliding into the snow.
