go2geekgo2geek Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 (edited) Well, ok, I don't have the newest most powerful gaming PC. Is a few years since I built it and is no great shakes these days. But, it would seem to be better than the hardware specs for the game I have seen posted around on the net. Three core processor, AMD Athlon II X3 450 Processor 3.20 GHz, 8Gb of RAM and an Nvidia GT 1030 graphics card. (Yeah I know, hardly blisteringly fast but has 2 Gb of memory & should be easily good enough to run a game from 2009!) Running on Windows 10 64. Everything starts off fine, but as soon as there is any action, a dogfight or even a balloon attack, I'm playing in slow motion, like wading through treacle. This is despite turning every graphics setting there is down to minimum exchanging the gorgeous scenery for a green and brown smear in an effort to make the game playable. Do you really need a monster of a gaming PC to play Rise of Flight? Edited February 28, 2023 by go2geek
TG-55Panthercules Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 I'll repeat here what I posted over on the old RoF forums: According to the game's website, the following are the recommended PC specs to be able to run RoF. From just a quick Google search for comparisons, it appears that your current CPU may be somewhat underpowered for RoF (it seems to benchmark about 30-50% slower than some of the reasonably comparable Intel i5 CPUs, although I'm not sure exactly which i5 the recommended specs are referencing). From what I've seen so far, It seems that the Phenom II 955 would be a bit closer to, but still perhaps somewhat under, the recommended Intel i5 CPU. RoF is fairly CPU-intensive (and more so as the number of planes/objects is increased), so I'm not sure if even the upgraded system would be sufficient for you to really enjoy the RoF experience. However, I haven't tried running RoF on systems so close to the recommended minimums, so I can't say for sure - perhaps some of the others in the community with more experience with such rigs will drop by with some comments/suggestions. Recommended system requirements Windows® XP (SP3) / Vista (SP1) / Windows® 7 (SP1) / Windows® 8 / Windows® 10 CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Quad 2.6 GHz+ or Intel® Core™ i5/i7 2.6 GHz+ GPU: 1024 Mb+, GeForce GTX 260+/Radeon HD5850+ RAM: 4 Gb+ Sound: DirectX 9.0c/11 compatible Free Hard Drive space: 10 Gb+
