Carlos_Cota_517 Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Hello there One thing that makes the Mig-3 so special (among many other features) is it's attitude indicator, because it is the only Soviet made fighter in the current game that has it... In real life, the Yak-9DD (a long range version of the Yak-9 currently in the game) had an attitude indicator, as it was used to scort US heavy bombers, from Ukraine to Italy, on bombing missions over Romania... Some variants of the La-7 also had attitude indicators, allegedly... In light of this, I've really curious as How a Yak-9 could be used in game with said attitude indicator. I would be really thankful if someone with some modding experience could make such modification for the Yak-9s1 and the Yak-9Ts1 (the La-5fn I fear it could be too much of a stretch for realism, but I still would be just as thankful anyway). Although, the only way I can think of is by replacing one of the gauges on the cockpit panel (the clock, for example) to make room for the artificial horizon indicator...
Superflyer Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Why???? If it is as realistic as it is now, everything is correct. I think the developers have opted for the respective standard versions/series and not for individual deviations. You also have to learn to fly with minimal equipment, so you can better assess what the pilots did back then. And it also trains your own flying/simulator feeling
Carlos_Cota_517 Posted March 6, 2023 Author Posted March 6, 2023 Despite its relative fame scorting B-17, the Yak-9DD has not appeared in any flight simulator so far, and the only real differences between it and the "vanilla" Yak-9 are an increased fuel load and the aforementioned attitude indicator... I was also very interested in an artificial horizon mod because it meant that we could finally (technically) have an all-weather/night Yakovlev fighter, without it being necessarily unhistorical... Plus, it would still be just a mod... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've flown every Yakovlev fighter in IL-2 gb (including the 1b and the 9t); the Yak-9s1 has been, not only my favorite Yak, but my favorite aircraft overall...
Mtnbiker1998 Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 I Don't think those kinds of cockpit 3d model changes are possible with the current modding tools, so its not simply a matter of no one wanting to make it. Whether or not it would be "Just a mod" doesn't matter if its not even a mod that can even be created. 1
