At first I thought you were talking about the shield icon. The shield-shaped badges remain blue for all of these guys. For example: 1) Han (1CGS IL-2 producer): green background on his posts and blue shield badge on the avatar. 2) Wardog5711 (1CGS IL-2 community manager): green background on his posts and blue shield badge on the avatar. 3) Buzzsaw (TFS CEO): blue background on his posts and blue shield badge on the avatar. 4) LukeFF (forum moderator): white background on his posts and blue shield badge on the avatar. Hello Kintaro - you are absolutelyl correct - I am at cross purposes with the posters question - my bad for not paying attention. 1
No.401_Wolverine Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 CloD was on borrowed time the moment it became clear that the people taking early steps to mod the game initially were very much interested in becoming the only game in town and took steps to that effect. It was like plastic surgery. Looked great when it was new, but now it's aging very badly. One wonders where CloD would be now if everyone had just been very open about the game and modding. I get the fear of cheaters, but they're everywhere. Small groups / squadrons are what keep these older games alive by being good to each other, providing safe fair-play friendly environments, and generating content. And open formats that allow more people to work on the software, different mods, different teams, is great for evolution. Let the best rise to the top. All those options were strangled at birth, seemingly. 1 5

Once you start off in that mindset, then its easy to see how we ended up where we did.

Yup, there's no way to really stop it. Your best bet is to find friends who don't do stuff like that and create a community of trust. I've been flying with the same group of guys now for nearly 10 years and not once had a problem with it. We've done CloD campaigns, flown BoX, and have been flying DCS campaigns for a while now and it's great. I've kinda had my fill of flying vs random people on public PvP servers. As long as the guys I've been flying with keep going, I can't even see the need. But everyone has their thing. If you like pitting yourself against others online for whatever reason (competitive league, bragging rights, whatever) then you just have to be okay with possibly being on the end of it. Look at online e-sports racing games right now. Introduce any kind of competition and someone will find a way to cheat, whether it's software or steroids.

BENKOE Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 I admit, I don't understand how the discussion is connected with the actual title of the thread.? 1 1
