Are there any mods to lessen the visual effects of bullet strikes on FC aircraft?

Tried searching the forums regarding this topic but could only find one hidden thread relating to mods of various smoke and other effects.  In my VR test flights using QMB for Flying Circus, it seems like the visual effects that occur when your MG bullets hit enemy planes might be a bit overdone for my taste.  I like being able to tell when you're getting hits, but it does seem a bit extreme when you consider it's mostly just small caliber bullets hitting fabric and wood.

Has anybody come up with any mods that might work for toning these effects down a bit for the FC planes?

Are you using the hit flash mod, or any ww2 mod packs that may include the hit flash mod? Just a thought.

No - not using any such mods so far, as I wasn't able to find any threads mentioning FC bullet strike effects  (other than the one hidden thread I found, from which it wasn't clear whether any workable mod(s) had actually emerged from that effort.  I'll try searching on hit flash mod and see what comes up.  I understand the effects probably should be different as between the WWI and WWII planes, but I'd be OK with a mod that only affected WWI or perhaps separate WWI and WWII mods whose usage would be controlled via JSGME.  The hidden thread I found had a lot of discussion of other fire/flame/smoke effects as if they might somehow be adversely affected by changes aimed at changing the bullet strikes effects, and I couldn't tell from that whether there was anything out there that just dealt with these WWI bullet strikes without screwing up something else.

My thought was the bullet flash mod might be causing what you see. It may just be overdone by default though. I haven't played Flying Circus in a long while.

Well, I haven't downloaded or activated any such mods yet, so what I'm seeing must presumably be the stock effects for Flying Circus.  My search of the forums didn't reveal anything specifically called a "hit flash mod", though it did reveal a few posts referring to some (unnamed) mod by that term.  Is it perhaps the component of the "IL-2 Enhanced Modpack" shown as "Effects Low End V5 with Less Black Smoke by JSOFlyer" on the first page of this thread: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/73819-mod-pack-il-2-enhanced-version-20-updated-2423/ ?

(and if so, is this particular hit flash mod available anywhere as a separate, standalone mod, or only as an embedded part of this massive combined mod package?)

Thanks - I'll check it out.  TBH though, while I admire your creativity and the effort required to put together such a massive mod package (and keep it updated as needed), I really prefer to use a collection of separate, single-purpose mods that each does exactly (and only) what I want done.  I realize that in some cases where multiple mods need to alter the same specific game file in different ways, it may be necessary to include multiple changes in a single mod so that one won't override and break the other one, but except in those (usually) limited circumstances I much prefer using the separate mods approach.  As just one example, while I'm hoping to tone down the bullet strikes in FC a bit, I don't think I want to get rid of tracers entirely, as they have some positive attributes/advantages that I'd like to retain.

Can you possibly let me know which part of your mod package actually deals with just the bullet strikes issue, so I can separate that part out into a separate mod for myself?

Thanks!

I wander if there is mod which replace landscape textures from ROF to FC and work in the multiplayer.

I have never had any problems using the JSGME tool, tracers are rare in ww1 combat, but if you want tracers just delete the dds tracer file in the particles folder ( it’s the one that’s blacked out )

It would be nice to an option in flying circus to have tracers on or off

I've never had any problem with JSGME either - never do mods without it.

I ran some more tests with your big mod package, but I could not tell any significant difference in terms of what I'm really looking for, i.e., something that will tone down the bursts of dust/smoke or whatever it is that flashes on the enemy planes when your MG bullets hit them in FC.  It is nice to be able to tell that you're getting hits, but the effect just seems a bit OTT considering most of the time it's just normal bullets hitting cloth and/or wood.

Does anybody know if there are any files that can be modded to reduce these effects somewhat for these WWI planes?  If not, I guess I'll just have to start plowing through the .gtp files to see what I can find, but I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction.
