We present to you a new virtual war server:

Historical Air War: Step Edition

Our current project reflects the most realistic approach available to specific applicable events during the period of World War Two.
We offer a round of play that consists of three campaigns, including Battles of Moscow, Stalingrad and Kuban. Each campaign contains a historically accurate set of aircraft (available in the game), key operations, weather conditions, and player controlled ground equipment!

Each player will have an opportunity to take control of an aircraft, armored vehicle, and an anti-aircraft artillery!
Everyone’s actions will, in some way, contribute to the battlefront condition leading up to the next mission. Every downed aircraft or destroyed tank will get your team closer to victory.

The variety of available targets will ensure that every participant, regardless of his interest, will have a chance to contribute to his team’s success by either level bombing, ground attack, interception, air transport operations, tank battles or AAA defense of vital areas, such as airfields and depots.

All missions are set up via “event” type. Each mission lasts six hours of real time and is played twice a week . The results of each mission will be analyzed in order to compose the next mission, using a specific formula. Officer corps, made up of real participating players, will determine the direction of the ground offenses for the upcoming mission.

- Limited number of aircraft and tanks
- 10 minute penalty for each death/capture
- Map strategy is controlled by the Officer corps
- Each participant must stay with their original side
- Mission duration is 6 hours (1500-2100 Zulu Time)

You've got a 10 minute penalty for death in an AAA truck?  

That seems a bit harsh given the nature of AAA trucks.  Also, if you've got 10 people on a side, for instance and the opposing force manages to kill several planes on a mission, you've got a heavily lop-sided team for the next 10 minutes, which doesn't make for engaging or energetic play online. 

I think the premise sounds amazing, but a 10 minute death penalty timer doesn't make me interested to participate.

Thanks for the question.

The penalty idea is designed so that each pilot values their aircraft more, and also to prevent "suicidal" pilots from engaging in mindless attacks. Imagine a reckless pilot is wasting several aircraft from one or more airfields, and since each side has a limited number of aircraft, such action will jeopardize the overall mission success. As far as the penalty for an AAA gunner, I will address that issue with the server admin, and see if it would make more sense to reduce the penalty for certain units.

The “supply factor” depends on the surviving supply on the sector of the front where the attack is being made. If 1 column survived, then Ks will be equal to 1.

This system allows you to simulate the inability of ground forces to travel long distances due to the lack of resources lost in the destroyed supply.

Each plane shot down = 100 points.

 

Every 1000 difference points move the front line towards the losing team by one square (10 km) in the direction where the winning team had the attacking force.

The width of a successful attack is 30 kilometers

 

The attacking units of the Red Army broke through the encirclement near the village of Vyazma, retained its depth of up to 76 kilometers, and a width of 30 kilometers.

Capture of the airfield by paratroopers
It is possible to capture only an inactive airfield in the amount of 1 piece per mission!

The capture of airfields on enemy territory is carried out by throwing:
- 3 planes with paratroopers, drop only from the air!
- 2 aircraft with a LOAD, to unload them, you need to land in the landing zone, stop, open the hatches (lantern), and press the bomb release. After successful unloading, the game will inform you about it.
The choice of airfields for landing is made by the "club of officers" at a distance of no more than 50 km. from the front line.
After a successful operation for the next mission, the airfield becomes the side that carried out the landing.
The captured airfield has a radius of 10 km and "lives" 2 missions if friendly troops have not made their way to it. If during 2 missions the troops did not make their way to this airfield, it goes over to the side of the enemy, and the airborne division dies.

German general staff has consolidated forces in the center in preparation for a defense of an upcoming Red Army offense.  In addition, the Wehrmacht is deploying forces in the northern and southern directions.

 

The Red Army, after consolidating large supplies in the center, had built up a powerful punch in the direction of Vjazma (2205).

-Strike enemy factory facilities

-Strike enemy warehouses, R/R stations, convoys, river crossings 

-Provide air cover for Red Army advancing forces

-Destroy defensive lines at the front line

-Anti-Aircraft-Artillery to provide air defenses for Soviet frontline airfields, defense positions and attacking forces from enemy aviation.

Hi. Tell me the tank bases are placed automatically or manually? I have played one mission so far and overall I liked it.

But in the last mission the distance from the tank bases of the Reds to the positions of the Army Center was about 30 kilometers.

That's too far, so I had to skip that mission.

According to admin, the respawn spots are randomly generated. so sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes you need to load up on fuel and snacks
