Just left Aces High.  New to IL-2.  Looking for squad to help bring me up to speed and develop some fun interaction.  USA East Coast based but will fly with anyone that's cool.

I'm reviewing the information on your forum, quite impressive.  Admittedly, it's a little daunting to see if I can get up to speed to be a productive member, not to mention the fact that I'm flying with a TM Hotas 4 and I'm not sure I'm able to map enough buttons to do what I'd need to do.. I'm in my first couple of days on IL-2 and still researching mapping settings etc. for the Hotas...

 

I'm very interested in the participation and will work diligently to get my system setup (at least enough not to die walking to the plane).  I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall most of my time on active duty, so I have a fondness for East Anglia (I lived in Ely while at Mildenhall)...

 

Looking forward to seeing if I can make this work...

Let me know what you find...I flew for the Knights on Aces High for many years...loved it!  I few with 71 RAF there.  Same call sign as here on the boards/in-game there.

 

I just got IL-2, so I'm in the process of going through lots of video tutorials as well as setting up my Warthog HOTAS for the game.

Hey War... Flew Rook in AH.... Same CS as here... Haven't had a squad since I flew with ET37 and Pand back in the day... As far as here goes.. I'm having a crap time with my HOTAS 4 and IL-2... setting up keys is ok... I just can't get any calibration to work and I'm all over the place flying... Just not sure that the TM HOTAS 4 will work with IL-2.  I've thought briefly about upgrading my stick to a T16000M just to be able to fly... I don't fly enough to justify the cost of some of the setups I've seen floating around... but without an upgraded stick.. I'm not sure I can fly IL-2 to be worth a damn... I'm more into the fun>realism aspect.  I will say that Bunny and the Tangmere guys seem like they'd be a cool group to run with... I just can't see myself going back to AH... I'm not a fan of Dale and he lets file manipulation and other "tricks" go unpunished so it can create unfair gameplay for some of the "longevity" members... I suck enough at flying to have to deal with a Spit 5 with 30mm cannons... lol.  How are the tutorials going???

I actually dragged out my old CH products gear that I was using in Aces High to try in IL2, but went back to the Warthog and I'm doing ok with it.  I pretty much use the map I'll attach here for it...

 

I totally know what you're talking about with the old AH getting sidetracked with some 'questionable' performance in aircraft and gv's.  That game sure could have grown and done well though.  The gv fights, crewing up turrets with friends on a bomb run, CV / naval operations, and base captures with ground troops sure was fun!  I wonder if the majority of the player base these days could handle it; I've been in War Thunder often lately and it's like playing with a bunch of ferrets on a sugar high.  No SA or ACM at all in there.  But it's fun at times ?

Hey TechN9ne,

 

I also used to fly with Devil Dogs in AH2. Not sure you remember my Callsign.

Not too long after AH2, Pand reached out to me, but I am unsure where he went.

I loved flying with ET37 and Pand, many a fond memory.

I hope you found your game. I tried IL2, and even though I am an airline pilot with a few thousand hours, I struggled to get my equipment set up properly to fly.

Either way, I hope you are doing fine, and it was nice to see your name pop up again.
