Hi all,

I'm looking for information regarding the Soviet Air Force during WWII.

In particular:
1) Formation adopted: I seem to have read somewhere that for the entire conflict even the fighters flew in groups of 3, is that correct?
2) Organization of the units: there was a subdivision corresponding to the German one (staffel/gruppe/geschwader...)
3) Which units took part in:
- Battle of Moscow winter 41
- Fighting in the Novorossiysk area summer 1942

Any information would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!

1. The fighters started switching to 4-plane formations in the second half of 1942.

2. Two (later sometimes 3) squadrons formed a Regiment, average size was 10 planes. A Regiment would also have a 2 or 3-plane staff section. Two or more regiments formed a Division, then multiple Divisions formed a Corps, multiple Corps formed an Air Army.
