AI gunners 2

Recommended Posts

Posted

We have learned that our gunners are "Ace" gunners on the planes that we humans fly. Super!

My question is why aren't those planes shot down by the AI gunners tallied on the mission results?

To my knowledge, not one of my gunners on any flight I've flown has ever shot down a "Bad" guy.

I'm sure they did tally them, the squadron would be more than happy to claim those "kills", plus it would be nice to know someone has the crew's back?

Just a thought.

Because the game only shows those kills made by the pilot, not by any of the gunners.

Single- or multiplayer missions?
Gunner kills should be counted.

I'll check it, I've just seen some problems with kills counting. Thanks for reporting. ?

I think there are some inconsistencies in how these kills get recorded in the game logs as well, and as a result they don’t get recorded consistently in MP either.  @=FEW=Revolves could probably expand on this.

That's merely an AI gunnery test rig that I've made for fun by sticking some B-26 and B-25 turrets to a transport plane.

On the serious side. Many of the JU 52 that took part in Norwegian vcampaign had a forward turret too

Oddly enough... I know that early jet combat isn't that much fun (compressibility, low accelerations, dubious aerodynamic choices)... but I'd also be really excited to see what the GB team would make of the aerodynamics of the BvP 212/215, Gotha P.60, Ju EF-128 etc. I'd definitely pre-order it out of curiosity.

How did you do that?

I remember - back in the Rise of Flight days - I commented out the turret definitions on some WWI aircraft in order to produce civilian post-war version :)

I recently tried to do something similar for the GAZ truck - as I wanted to race it without the turret (and all of the crew waiting to be crushed). It didn't work though!

The game spits out logs logs mapping the "turrets" (any gun position is a turret in the logs) to the airplane and the victory to the turret.  Therefopore, you know which turret shot down got the victory and you know which airplane the turret belonged to, you can determine which plane scored the victory.  I use this to award gunner victories to the crew.  Unless things have changed, this works.

That's pretty neat! I always feel "guilty" when I'm messing around with a 110, and I get credit for the plane that my tail gunner got.... the bandit I should have been paying attention too.
