Today we want to tell you about the campaign ‘Wings over Caen’ - it will be released in the near future and will be free for all Battle of Normandy owners. This historical campaign is dedicated to the operations of the No. 245 Squadron RAF which has been using Typhoon Mk.Ib fighter/bombers. Full news -here is a full text and visual materials 16 6 1 3
Spidey002 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 This will get me to finally try out the Typhoon!
LuftManu Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Nice! I had a blast flying the XIV over Bodenplatte, can't wait to do some ground pounding in Normandy! Great work!

DN308 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Ok, Nice. happy to fly over Caen and glad it is free. However, what about all the rest? 1
354thFG_Panda_ Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Nice, the Typhoon is one of the most fun aircraft in the sim so quite excited for this 1
[RBRI]Khaela Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 As someone who hasn't really tested any of the campaigns, just careers and MP, is it possible to play these in Co-op?

No, all events in the mission are strictly tied to one player's aircraft for optimization, for co-op everything needs to be done completely differently from the beginning. 2
=GEMINI=Hawkmoon98 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) hum, i honestly expected a beefier DD after as being the first of the year and the one after a month without, also counting that we still don't know about the next DLC btw nice stuff Edited February 2, 2023 by =GEMINI=Hawkmoon98 1 2

I./JG52_Woutwocampe Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Nice. These scripted campaigns are always fun the first time 1
Denum Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Well, good news for the single player folks. Was hoping for a bit more news. 1
simfan2015 Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 This DD sure made my day. Thanks Han and BlackSix ! I am mighty glad that we at least hear something, anything is always much better than nothing. We can expect Normandy and FC2 to be completed. Even if the rest is still up in the air (pun untended) we will get all that was promised and paid for !
ScotsmanFlyingscotsman Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 My Dad, 6 Cdo, Sword beach, told me about the 'cab rank' Typhoons, hitting the Nazi defences, and the losses they took, it was relentless, but also very effective as the army losses were much less than they might have been. He was amazed to see how organised it was, you could literally see a flight of aircraft come up, get set up and then start down, the firing at the army had been getting, died down, while everything was aimed at the incoming aircraft. Caen was a nightmare of snipers in the rubble for the army.
sevenless Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) Great! The Tiffy really is a fun plane to fly. Can´t wait. Mossie next? Edited February 2, 2023 by sevenless 2

GOA_Karaya_VR Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 What about the next projects or anything new about the develop for the future of IL2? 1
Avimimus Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) I'm really glad we got the Typhoon (and so many British/Commonwealth aircraft)! I also love the ground attack focus! 4 hours ago, GOA_Karaya_CRI*VR* said: What about the next projects or anything new about the develop for the future of IL2? Well, things for them to update: - SSW D.IV - IAR 80/81 - More W.I.P. shots on the Bf-109G6/AS - Second un-announced collector aircraft (if it isn't the Li-2) - Lisunov Li-2 pre-order (if it hasn't been cancelled). - Flying Circus Volume 2 campaign mode - Flying Circus Volume 3 (if it hasn't been cancelled) - Tank Crew 2 (if Ugra Media decides to pursue it). - Additional 3rd party collaborations (if the 3rd parties are far enough along for them to be confident in their completion - so probably a few months out). There will probably be all of those development diaries prior to them announcing the next WWII module/project. It also sounds like they aren't certain about how much backwards compatibility will exist and they're probably waiting until they have some ability to show off the new technologies prior to making an announcement... So it could be several months before we find out if the next module will be compatible with the existing ones, or if the underlying engine components of existing modules will remain partly compatible (I'd love it if things like AI improvements could be back-ported to existing products etc.) Edited February 3, 2023 by Avimimus 1
Enceladus828 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 13 minutes ago, Avimimus said: Second un-announced collector aircraft (if it isn't the Li-2) I hope it's the MC.200 or I-153 14 minutes ago, Avimimus said: Tank Crew 2 (if Ugra Media decides to pursue it) It's actually Digital Forms which will decide to pursue it. I hope they do -- Falaise Pocket would be nice and they don't really have to worry about making the map, or the Battle of the Bulge. Another option could be a Tank battle but there are 6 or 8 playable tanks in the installment in case TC1 was scarcely profitable which I hope wasn't.
simfan2015 Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Avimimus, really nice list but I, personally, am not going to hold my breath ! If they would do all of that then who is ever going to produce the new engine and product(s) !?
