Spinnetti Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Background: I got the stug, but there are no fast missions for it. I'd like to copy one of the fast battle missions like for the Panzer III for instance and substitute the stug and save it as one of my custom missions. Is this possible? I'm not asking how to make missions, I just want to copy and edit then save as custom as I know the default missions are always there. Thanks!
Jaegermeister Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 (edited) If you mean the Scenario Missions for each vehicle, you cannot copy or edit them. They are stored on the server. I believe one has been released for that vehicle now. You can create a mission for the Stug III in the QMB, open the _gen.mission file and edit it. Edited February 2, 2023 by Jaegermeister 1
R33GZ Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) Couldn't you run a mission for the panzer 3 and then open _Gen.mission edit and resave that? Edited February 3, 2023 by R33GZ

I'm pretty sure that other missions/campaigns are stored inside one of the .gtp files, although some are encrypted. Definitely the paid campaigns, but the same may be the case for the missions included with the paid vehicles. Anyhow, I'm certain that I did the same trick once, back when I didn't have Tank Crew yet, modifying one of its missions to use one of the free tanks.

I'm not certain that they can't be extracted from a data file. I know they aren't in the stock mission files. I have seen people make reference to modifying them for coop or other uses, so that may be the case. With your skills being what they are, perhaps you can research that and enlighten us? I would actually think it would be as simple as recording a track and extracting the mission file from that, I've never tried it. Edited February 4, 2023 by Jaegermeister

I just did a quick test, and it seems they are embedded inside Missions.gtp (which you can extract using unGTP-IL2.exe as usually). I don't have the time to confirm in-game, but they open in the Mission Editor perfectly fine, so I think they should work if you simply change the player tank type. Do mind though that they include only the binary mission file, so you'll explicitly have to specify the filename as [filename].msnbin. They won't show in the "Open File" dialog of the Mission Editor as that filters for .mission files. 1

Well, it wouldn't be me that extracts those files since I have the originals, but yes... both procedures appear to work for those that want to go that route.
