Battle of Britain

Hello! The other day we flew a coop battle of Britain mission, there were twelve of us in hurricanes it was great. Here's a video

That looked really nice and a very believable video, compared to stories and footage I have seen from those who actually lived it.

 

And with lots of bombers and escorts, all AI?

So it certainly is possible to have large numbers of aircraft assuming your pc and server can handle it.

 

I'd love to be able to fly a single player version of the same.

Yeah all the bombers (18) and escorts (4) are AI and all the hurricanes (12) are players. Running it solo may result in lowered framerates, I haven't tested it. The only time the server struggled was when the whole enemy group spawned at once. I'm kinda tempted to try pushing the limit even harder, but honestly when flying hurricanes with 303s 18 bombers is quite a lot as is lol

I'd think 18 is more than enough. Even if faced with 200 bombers I'm sure you could only really concentrate on one section. Perhaps a few more fighters.

 

I don't know about mission design but could you get them to spawn at different times to keep the big hit down?

Yeah. I'll have to play with the timings to get them in formation. I'm actually going to edit the mission a little anyway to rerun it, may also add target randomisation and then share the mission so others can give it a go too, I think it's pretty cool
