Reverb G2 screens going temporarily black

I’ve increasingly been having this issue where the lenses momentarily turn off (so far as I can tell) usually it’s the left first then the right and it last 5-10 seconds.  The monitor still displays normal.  Then they come back. Anyone have any advice? My initial guess is it’s performance related

I suspect your long cable may be starting to die, which is a known issue with the Reverb G2. I think I’m on my third cable, and unfortunately they are almost always out of stock. Depending upon when you bought your G2 HP may be willing to send you a replacement. They revised the original cable a few months after launch to what they call the Omnicept or v2 edition.

Here in the US you can usually find Reverb G2 cables on eBay, though they cost more than buying from HP - but as I wrote before, HP rarely has them in stock. It’s really the only bad thing about the G2 if you are fine with the sweet spot (as I am).

I will tell you exactly what the issue is and it is NOT your cable.

It is sound.  Your volume is up above 75-80.  Dont believe me do ya.  Turn the volume on the headset down to 75.  Never suffer blackout again.  It really is that simple.  You can thank me later.

Thanks guys,

Im on my second cable so ive been there done that.  I will give the volume "hack" a try, If it is indeed the volume, I would love to think a more permanent solution is the works from HP.

Hi not sure if you are aware but there was a firmware update some time back for this issue. Here is a link.
