FTC_Zero Posted January 31, 2023 Posted January 31, 2023 (edited) Does anyone has good sources for the button configuration of their flight stick? Do BF109 shoot their mg's and cannon separately? Same for the FW190. Ingame you can shoot separately with the 109 but not the fw190. I just find only text that discibes that the inner thumb button is for wing armament and the trigger for engine weapons. Not sure if it means the prob hub cannon or in general the inner fuselage weapons. Thanks for your help. Edited January 31, 2023 by FTC_Zero
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 31, 2023 1CGS Posted January 31, 2023 Yes, how it's set up right now is how it was in reality, per the original pilot operating handbooks. 1

Real warbird control columns have a lot more mass compared to joysticks. This leads to larger inertia, which coupled with the much larger forces needed in order to move the stick leads to the sticks being less prone to being inadvertently moved by button presses. Not so our joysticks. I've long assigned all cannon and machine gun firing commands to the China button on my Warthog throttles (that's a two-way button right under my thumb. Push forward for MGs, pull back for all weapons. This decoupled plane and weapon controls, and the effects are awesome. No more jerking the stick because I stabbed the trigger. Ever. It takes a day or so to get used to, but you'll never want to go back. I've assigned plenty of less critical commands to the buttons on my Virpil Alpha grip. Edited January 31, 2023 by JG27_PapaFly

This made me think that in japanese Zero the firing button was on the throttle indeed..possible was the same reason?

The 109s weapon assignement generally was the trigger for the machineguns and the thumb button for the 15/20mm gun(s). When using the wing gondolas, though, the assignement was changed to the way it was used in the FW 190s, with the trigger firing the "fuselage" (inner) guns and the thumb button firing the wing guns. This had the advantage, the pilot could shoot at fighters with the inner guns only and saved the ammunition of the wing guns, which was less than for the inner guns, for bombers or IL2s. And if there were no bombers/IL2s, he had the possibility to shoot the wing guns with the machineguns after the inner cannons were out of ammunition.
