WWII_Grip_for_THQ_800_2.jpg?resize=324%2
For the last few years I had been using the throttle half of the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS for a throttle. (I didn’t use the T-Flight joystick). It served its purpose but it felt cheap, clunky and not very smooth. I don’t need much in a throttle since I fly mainly Warbirds. Most available throttles are either poorly made or have way too many buttons, hats and axes for my needs. Until this…

Quality: They are not metal but are made with strong, firm plastic. Material quality overall is excellent, pieces fit together evenly and smoothly. Buttons have a firm feeling when pushed, the axes glide evenly and smoothly and can be dampened. Wiring is simple and clean. In short, another well-built piece from VKB.

Assembly: The grip has to be connected to the base and you have to add a USB Controller (sold by VKB) if you want to use this as a standalone piece. (Or you can combine it with the Gladiator joystick). The assembly instructions on YouTube are clear and fairly simple. It took less than a half hour to do this

Function: The throttle is smooth and accurate with no detent. The grip feels good and “realistic”. There are six buttons on the grip, eight on the base, and three axes. The WWII grip uses two axes so you are left with one.

*The assembled base and grip together are fairly light. You will have to secure it to your desk or mount in order to use it.

Overall: I’ve been using this for ten days and am very pleased with the purchase. I have more than enough buttons when combined with a MSFF2 joystick. (I also use VoiceAttack). I ordered thru VKB North America. The grip and base came from China and arrived in Connecticut, US in seven days. Yes, I recommend it and would buy it again.
