343KKT_Kintaro Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Thank you so much Wardog, that was awesome, I loved that video, really! Tech illustrators mentioned in the video between 11' and 13', Roy Cross, R. G. Smith and Reynold Brown, especially the latter, strongly remind me Hans Jenssen and Richard Chasemore, the first illustrators who worked for the series of Star Wars "cross-sections" books, as of the late 1990s. Since then, they have been replaced by new illustrators I think. 1
Wardog5711 Posted January 23, 2023 Author Posted January 23, 2023 I first became aware of Mike Machat's channel when I was looking for some cold war aircraft art a couple of years ago. He has some great videos on vintage model kits and box art.
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 23, 2023 1CGS Posted January 23, 2023 Fascinating stuff. There was also a series of manuals published on US Fleet Submarines near the end of the war, and the cutaway drawings in them are of similar stunning detail.
DragonDaddy Posted January 23, 2023 Posted January 23, 2023 Rapidograph pens bring back lots of mechanical drawing and design memories. And the video is good, too! Cutaways can really show the amount of “systems” some of the more complex aircraft utilize.
Zooropa_Fly Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 The monochrome sketch at around 3 mins is stunning.
