CzechTexan Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 (edited) Hello everyone! Creating missions for Great Battles is fairly new to me but I thought I should start sharing some with this community. My stuff is not polished so do not expect it to be professional. Most of my learning has come from SYN_Vander's Easy Mission Generator which helps in making missions much easier. Thank you SYN_Vander! Here is where you will find all of my mission packs, now and in the future. My interest is mostly on the Eastern Front and I like to recreate historical battles showing ground units and ground-attack aircraft. There will typically be player-flyable ground attack aircraft plus their player-flyable escorts for both sides, red and blue, for each battle, making a total of about 4 (more or less) missions for each battle. As much as I love the Sturmovik, I also enjoy the German ground attack planes. This first mission pack is for the Prokhorovka map and the Battle of Kursk. I have seen very little interest from the community for the Battle of Kursk (except for TANK CREW) which is a shame. KURSK is the G.b.O.A.T ! (Greatest battle Of All Time) How could it be getting such little attention? The map is not just for tanks! Anyhow, the battles for Kursk happened during about a 2-week time frame. There were battles all over the place, every day! There are plenty available to cover. Of course, I cannot make them totally historically accurate... these are only my version to recreate something for this flight sim. ***** This first mission pack CT_KURSK_1 includes: July 5 battle for Cherkasskoe July 5 battle for the Donets River crossing July 6 battle for Nepkhaevo and the 2 GTC July 6 battle for Pokrovka (not to be confused with Prokhorovka) July 7 battle for Blizhnaya-Igumenka DOWNLOAD HERE: https://www.mediafire.com/file/qrt8jvo3dsrsrzm/CT_Kursk_1.zip/file Just a note: I do have a fairly high-level rig with 6GB RAM so these missions may be unplayable on some lesser rigs. The heaviest load would be the Battle for Cherkasskoe - I tried to push it to the limit to see how far I could go. I typically get FPS in the 40s-50s for Cherkasskoe because there are so many tanks on the ground and I tried to recreate the masses of German panzers attacking in that small area. Other missions are more easily playable with higher FPS. I hope you all will enjoy flying them. SKINS: For Sturmovik skins I used MarcoPegase44 skins found here: p.s. Installation: Unzip the downloaded file, place the folder "CzechTexan" into your Data/Missions folder. A KURSK folder with missions is inside the CzechTexan folder. In the future I'll have missions for other maps, like KUBAN, that can also be placed inside the CzechTexan folder. The purpose of this is for better organization. *********************************************************************************************************************************** NEW MISSION PACK! 2-16-2023 KUBAN-EAST Kuban-East is my second mission pack. Missions are set in the Fall (September-October) of 1942 during which the Germans made their second attempt to take Tuapse. The Stuka was heavily used as "aerial artillery" since the mountainous terrain was so difficult to deploy the usual heavy artillery. A/I aircraft include I-16, La-5 series8, P-40E, Bf 109G-2. Juri_JS Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Nice to see missions for Il-2 GB from you. I tried the Cherkasskoe Bf-109 mission and had rather bad time dilation issues despite my high end PC. I've looked at the mission in the editor and noticed, that you are using the TC tank models, those that start with "_" in the vehicle list. These tanks have a more complex AI and damage model and use much more CPU ressources. The mission will run much better when you only use the simplified tanks further down the vehicle list.
CzechTexan Posted January 21, 2023 Author Posted January 21, 2023 (edited) You're right. But I wanted to have the Elefant in the battle. The TankCrew _PantherD is also in the mission because there is not a simple D version - which is the one used at Kursk. I think all the other tanks are without the "_". Users can edit and alter the missions in the Mission Editor and perhaps delete the Elefants, Panthers, or any other tanks to their liking. btw, here is a good link to a discussion about Panther tanks at Cherkasskoe: https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/panther-debute-the-first-battle.336197/ Edited January 22, 2023 by CzechTexan added info
CzechTexan Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 NEW MISSION PACK! 2-16-2023 KUBAN-EAST Kuban-East is my second mission pack. It portrays some air battles fought over the eastern part of the Kuban region, south and east of Krasnodar. The setting is August 1942 as the Germans fight their way from Maykop to Tuapse. During this time period the only Luftwaffe fighters in this region were of 15.(Kroat)/JG52. I used Kroat Bf109G-2 skins by PatCartier on the AXIS-and-ALLIES website. Flyable planes include the 109 and Bf110E and LaGG-3 series29 and IL-2 (42) and Yak-7B and Ju-88. The battles are in chronological order so you can follow the changing front lines as the Germans moved close to Tuapse through the mountains and valleys. These missions are on a smaller scale than the Kursk missions above so they use less computer resources. DOWNLOAD HERE: https://www.mediafire.com/file/ijygdk1t1z5s3g3/CT_KubanEast.zip/file Installation: Unzip the downloaded file, drop the folder "CzechTexan" into your Data/Missions folder (overwrite). A KUBAN-EAST folder with missions is inside the CzechTexan folder. Enjoy! Download Kroat Bf109G-2 skins here: Bf109G2 of 15(Kroat.)/JG52 / Bf-109 / Downloads - Axis and Allies Paintworks (axis-and-allies-paintworks.com) 4 1
Sandmarken Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Cool! Il check the kuban missions out when I get the time ?
CzechTexan Posted April 28, 2023 Author Posted April 28, 2023 (edited) NEW MISSION PACK! 4-28-2023 KUBAN-SPRING DOWNLOAD HERE: https://www.mediafire.com/file/2pjeohdlsgtkym5/CT_Kuban.zip/file Download Slovak no-number skins by E69_julian57 here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/3ta8osoacihu21d/4K+Bf+109G-4_Slovak.dds/file Installation: Unzip the downloaded file (CT_Kuban), drop the folder "Kuban" into your CzechTexan folder (Data/Missions/CzechTexan). A KUBAN-Spring folder with missions is inside the Kuban folder. Enjoy! I am learning more as I continue to make missions and learn about the Mission Builder. I have learned more about Logic and how to have "Mission Accomplished." Sadly, previous mission packs always ended in Mission Failure but this new pack should have Mission Accomplished! Kuban-Spring is my third mission pack. The time frame is February 23 - March 6, 1943 and action is mostly north of Krymskaya. These missions showcase the Slovak pilots which flew the Bf 109G-4 and the skin they use is listed above. I get most of my inspiration from these books: The Caucasus and the Oil by Tieke AND the BLACK CROSS RED STAR series of books by Christer Bergstrom. Kuban-Spring missions: Troitskaya (Bf109G-4, IL-2, Yak-7b) Svistelnikov (Bf109G-4, IL-2, LaGG-3) Abinskaya (Bf109G-4, IL-2, P-39, Ju 87) Temryuk (Bf109G-4, IL-2, P-39) Chushka (Bf109G-4, IL2, P-39) Edited April 29, 2023 by CzechTexan 2 2
CzechTexan Posted May 27, 2023 Author Posted May 27, 2023 MY NEXT MISSIONS... Blue smoke marks the target! Waiting for the bomb-delay of a direct hit on that pillbox! I am continuing the Caucasus battles from Maykop to Tuapse during September-October 1942. However, these missions will only be for the Ju 87D-3 Stuka. I will also try to make it into a campaign. That is, if I can learn how to do it. These missions are the best so far, imho, with objectives accomplished, etc. All are AIRSTART missions beginning in the air. Doing it this way also helps with testing the missions quickly without having to takeoff and fly the long distance to target. As of right now, there are 10 missions and a few more to go. Missions include Stuka bombings of airfield, bunker/pillboxes, artillery, ships - all while trying to avoid AAA and enemy fighters. Hopefully, your escort fighters will protect you! 5
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted May 28, 2023 Posted May 28, 2023 I take it that I will have to have "Tank crew" installed to be able to fly these missions Cheers

CzechTexan Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 NEW MISSION PACK! June 9, 2023 KUBAN-EAST 2 Here are 14 Ju 87 STUKA missions taken from my campaign "Aerial Artillery" and made into Single Player Missions. Download Kroat Bf109G-2 skins here: http://www.axis-and-allies-paintworks.com/e107_plugins/download/download.php?action=view&id=1048 These skins are not necessary since they're only used for the A/I Bf109G-2 Escorts.
CzechTexan Posted July 20, 2023 Author Posted July 20, 2023 I just uploaded my "Defend Velikie Luki 1941" campaign (it's in the campaigns section of the forum) BUT here are also the Single Player Missions from that: DOWNLOAD: https://www.mediafire.com/file/mt2611nlvq3j9fi/DefendVL1941_singlePlayer.zip/file 3 1 1
CzechTexan Posted March 10, 2024 Author Posted March 10, 2024 AERIAL ARTILLERY (with Takeoffs) Download: https://www.mediafire.com/file/4yfk2m7kegz1937/CT_AerialArtillery_V2.zip/file When I made the first Aerial Artillery campaign, there were suggestions from fellow pilots that these missions should be made to have takeoffs and even startup to taxi...for more immersion. Well, here you have it, although, there is only one mission where you have to startup and taxi to the runway (the anti-Shipping mission). The Stuka is slow in climbing but it'll get there, eventually! There have been some new things added but the missions are basically the same. However, it is an improvement on the old since I've been learning more and more about mission building with the Great Battles Mission Editor. I added these as single missions so that all the bugs can be fixed before it's made into a campaign format. If there are issues, please reply here so that I can fix it. If you don't have the 15.(Kroat)/JG 52 skins yet, there is a link two discussions above this one. They are not necessary, though. Enjoy! 1 2

I enjoyed quite a lot the missions because they are "fast to action" and also because plenty of thinngs are happening in the air. I tested La-5 then Bf110, I am eager to test FW190 and rocket armed Pe2 1
CzechTexan Posted September 22, 2024 Author Posted September 22, 2024 Battle for the Don Bend Download: https://www.mediafire.com/file/hwhptxqthc5q63z/Battle_for_the_Don_Bend_singles.zip/file Battle for the Don Bend is a pack of 11 single player missions in which the Player will fly the Hurricane MkII on the Stalingrad map. Missions are from July 15 to August 16, 1942. The time period is at the beginning of the Battle of Stalingrad as the German Army advances across the steppe after the Millerovo battle and heads toward the Don River. Inspiration for the missions are from actual battles but the campaign is semi-historical since the airfields may not have been used - - this allows for shorter flight distances. The first mission is the longest and they get shorter after that. *Notes: *You MUST HAVE the STALINGRAD Map and the Hurricane MkII collector plane. *A mission is successful when the player destroys a target or makes a successful landing. If target objectives are completed then it is not necessary to make a landing. *All missions start on the ground with engine running. *Mission descriptions are in English-only, sorry. *Books cited: Black Cross Red Star volume 3 by Bergstrom; To the Gates of Stalingrad by Glantz. Enjoy!--created by CzechTexan These missions are also in campaign format here: 1
