RossMarBow Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Quite often when I look at VR footage it is very shaky compared with open track/trackir footage. But does it actually look shaky to the user? Or do peoples heads just shake a lot and its 100% normal looking for the user?
Arioch_RN Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Looks 100% normal - VR headsets have sub-millimetre tracking that exactly matches what your head is doing, so every little movement that our brains usually filter out is mirrored in the recordings. If I use a headset-tracked cursor I can see my pulse cause small regular movements. If you see VR footage that isn’t jittery, it will be due to using software smoothing on the output video. That, or the person recording has a Zen-like calm ? 1
