GOA_Karaya_VR Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 Greetings everyone, I would like to know if an improvement in the issue of the Sun Block and the coverage radius can be taken into a future plan, since it is almost impossible to fly in VR with the sun at a non-direct angle, in fact the sun covers a large portion of the non-direct visual radius, at least in VR I feel that my eyes melt, which is not healthy for our eyes, if anyone has any adjustments that I should make at the level of the graphic configuration, I appreciate it. Best regards. 2 4
TCW_Brzi_Joe Posted January 17, 2023 Posted January 17, 2023 With higher fov (field of view), there is wider sun effect. I reduced my fov on pimax and sun is much better. Shouldn't be like this. 1
Charon Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 HDR is off and it's still unpleasant. Not so bad in 109s, since I can usually put some of the cockpit frame over the sun, but I've been flying P-51Ds lately. The sim needs a "hand over the sun" button. 1 3
354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 It's gotten really bad since the sky update. I really don't understand why the sun is so massive in a 2022 sim. 1 1
dbuile Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 (edited) Agreed, that sun effect is okay for uncommon environment conditions, but shouldn't be the default. A video in the VR thread ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-aJo5paW5k at 4:10) mentioned sun issues with antialiasing gamma correction turned on. Also, Il-2 shows pilots (some? all? I haven't checked) with tinted goggles. Would folks ever want that factored in to graphics rendering? Edited January 18, 2023 by dbuile
Sgt_Joch Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 I just checked in my game and do not see the issue. The size and brightness of the sun and rays seems normal to me in BoN and does not affect visibility unless it is directly in your field of view (G2, HDR off). Someone should post a screenshot or video of what they are seeing.
102nd-YU-cmirko Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I sometimes turn on the sunglasses feature of openXR toolkit (Pico4, hdr off) if I'm playing on a snow map ?♂️ I also think that most VR pilots feel that the effect is overdone, at least the buddies I fly with ^^ 1
GOA_Karaya_VR Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) Hello gents, thanks for your responses, This is exactly what i see when my eyes melt , this was on TAW tonight: Even if i block the sun moving my head agains the cockpit bar, i still seen nothing more than the sun block. This is really anoying, i dont know what to do. Please help Edited January 20, 2023 by GOA_Karaya_CRI*VR* 1
Crocogator Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) Karaya's sun is accurate, but doesn't show the good 15 degrees of vision which are completely obscured by glare. If there's a fighter in that region, you need a lot of bars on your cockpit to shield yourself from the sun for a moment. Edited January 20, 2023 by Crocogator missing a 1

Man, on VR looks totally broken and unrealistic , you have to look the sun in RL directly for get your eyes burn, not on a corner angle that blocks everything, maybe on flat screen looks more than less fine, but on VR, is a pain for your eyes.
[CPT]Crunch Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 No it isn't accurate at all, the sun is low to the horizon passing through magnitudes greater atmosphere which reduces glare substantially over that of a noon sun. Why you can stare directly at a rising or setting sun with no ill effects. There's only one level of glare in game, full noon, with its ridiculous sun rises and sets. 1 1
dbuile Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 My TrackIR died recently, so I've been "slumming it" with VR. I feel GOA_Karaya's pics are actually tame compared to my VR experience, AND, they while they represent legit atmospheric effects, they should be comparatively rare.
Ribbon Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Yeah sun is way overdone esoecially in VR but devs don't give a $&!t even it is reported my many, flatscreeners too 1 1
