FeuerFliegen Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 As much as I love the new clouds and sky updates, I absolutely can't stand the way it made night missions look. They were so immersive before now I can't stand looking at it. They all have this grey tint to them that looks awful. The only thing I can do to get rid of it is lower gamma to the point where I can't see anything at all. Any tips?
AEthelraedUnraed Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Gotta say, my experience is quite the opposite from yours. I find the nights immersive like never before. No more banding, and the moon gives a beautiful shine that propagates all the way through the clouds. Nights were quite unrealistic before; now they're simply wonderful. But to each his own I guess. To answer your question, we need to know your expectations. What do you desire from night missions? How do you want them to look? You talk about some kind of grey tint; do you want the nights to have some kind of colour? If so, you might want to try reshade or something to adjust it. Or do you want lighter nights with a beautiful atmospheric moon? In that case, choosing a different date for your mission might be enough; IL2 has realistic moon cycles. 1
616Sqn_Tyggz Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) I think the previous colour of the night was a lot more appealing. I don't think you could really get that look in the game now. You probably could by using reshade or something similar. Here's the nice deep blue night we had. And here's the grey, sometimes turquoise night we have now. I agree the clouds and moon look better now, but I think the blue hue should be reintroduced without the banding. Edited January 7, 2023 by 616Sqn_Tyggz
MajorMagee Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 That kind of color shift is a perfect task for Reshade.
CountZero Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) just change in game gamma to higher value until you get it how you wont it. ah i see that dont work... Edited January 7, 2023 by CountZero
Mtnbiker1998 Posted January 7, 2023 Posted January 7, 2023 Try turning off HDR, it removes the gray tint of night missions and makes the whole scene a lot darker/more immersive. You may want to adjust the gamma up a few notches to make up for it. Turning off hdr will also get rid of the overdone glare/bloom effect on a lot of things.
