spreckair Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 Does anyone out in the IL-2 universe play with the following: Intel I-7 13700K CPU NVIDIA RTX 3080 GPU HP Reverb G2 VR Headset If so, how is your experience when there are a whole bunch of aircraft flying at once? I am asking for the following reason. I currently have an Intel I-7 11700K, RTX 3080, and HP Reverb G2. When the sky gets too crowded, the CPU gets stressed out and everything becomes blurry, slow, and unacceptable. So I am thinking of building a new rig with the I-7 13700K, but before I invest a large chunk of money, I want to make sure that this is actually a solution. Any thoughts would really help me out. Thank you in advance.
horendus Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I went from a 8600k @ 4.8 with a 3080 to a 13700kf with a 3080. It was a very noticeable performance increase in busy scenes. Thats with a quest2
spreckair Posted January 5, 2023 Author Posted January 5, 2023 @horendus Thank you for the reply. Have you noticed any issues? Are you able to max out the graphics settings?
354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 I think you'll notice a good increase in capability, but don't expect miracles from this game engine in vr singleplayer.
FTC_Tazz Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 (edited) I went from a 9700K to a 13700K and have a 3080 10gb. I haven't had time to log on since I installed it unfortunately but I did some benchmarks from the SYN_Vander thread. For the CPU test (not VR) I went from an average of 84 FPS to 140 FPS. For VR Test 2, the average FPS went from 44.8 to 68.5. The big jump was in in the min and max. My max FPS in VR test 2 with the 9700K was 54 FPS, my minimum with the 13700K is 59 FPS. I still want to work on it a bit and tweak some settings with Process Lasso. Check out the benchmark thread, DBCOOPER011 ran the first benchmarks with a 13700K and provided some good info in the last few pages. He may be able to provide you with more insight. spreckair Posted January 6, 2023 Author Posted January 6, 2023 @FTCTazz Thank you for the info! I read that the 14th gen Intel desktop CPUs will likely not be out until the end of 2024, so I may just go ahead and build a new rig now with the 13700K. Unfortunately, the 13th gen is the last for LGA 1700 boards, so the mobo won't be available for an upgrade down the road. Please let me know how it performs in game when you get the chance.
