Combat Box is often a slideshow, which sucks because it's such a fun server. Anyone have experience optimizing for better performance on CB? Currently running: Reverb G2 at 2800x2800 Settings, Balanced Preset - FXAA 5800x, 32GB DDR 3600, RTX 4090 Overall when I am limited I'm CPU limited.

Yes i have the same problem with you , i am also cpu bottlenecked as you do. Have you done 1080p cpu Synvander benchmark test to see how much cpu limited you are? Problem is especially intense whenever there are many people inside Combatbox and especially when i fly over crowded places with many planes, smokes, airfields, explosions, e.t.c. Do you suffer during the same conditions as me? 1

Currently running: Reverb G2 at 2800x2800 Settings, Balanced Preset - FXAA 5800x, 32GB DDR 3600, RTX 4090 Overall when I am limited I'm CPU limited. if I remember my G2 settings, you are running less than the 100% setting in SteamVR (or OpenXRToolkit) with this setting ? your 4090 should easily (IMHO) go through 150% SS setting with some degree of MSAA applied in game... you can find out your PBO settings automatically for Zen3 cpu's with this tool, it will help a bit with the CombatBox excessive AI usage (I fly there often with well tuned 5800X3D and it still hiccups under certain conditions) 1

I did some testing before and my limitations were all CPU, even on smaller missions, and much of that had to do with loading different distant objects which is why I'm running on 'normal' preset. I'm guessing the scripts running on CB are what's messing me up. Player count could be a problem on CB in particular, it's certainly true that when I get near other aircraft in CB performance bogs down WAY more than other servers. On Finnish many other players is no problem, I can hop on with 60 players and have buttery smooth performance. I think we're just running into the engine at this point - if VR is a priority for 1Cs next project they're going to have to architect things so that scripts, and loading assets don't effect the cockpit render thread so much. I made a post in general asking about what the devs were doing on a technical level to make sure the next product was VR friendly from the ground up, it got some likes but no-one commented.
